So, I have a couple of IWB holsters for my Shield 45 and thought it might be nice to have an OWB holster for it as well. While I'm sure I'll end up ordering something for it, my frugal and somewhat creative mind got to thinking.

I had a cheap leather holster that I bought for a Glock 26 that I never really liked sitting in the box of holsters. Tried the Shield and it wouldn't fit. It was way too tight. So, I bagged the pistol, wet the holster down, and re molded it for the Shield. Fits like a glove and should suffice until I can order a better holster for it.

That's the way to do it. Are you going to stick with leather or go Kydex?

Nice job. Nothing like "reinventing" what you already have in your holster box.

Thanks. Even though I'm pretty sure I actually paid for this holster years ago, I still like to think of it as a "free" holster for my Shield if that makes any sense.

Lately I've been eyeballing the graphic holsters. I have a Kydex press, I was thinking of making a hybrid leather and plastic.

I dabble a little in kydex myself. Might just make my own but seems I just don't have much time for it. Here's a couple of my most recent ones.

That's a great mod. i haven't messed w/ leather but have started messing w/ kydex. I have a couple of Crossbreed OWB holsters. I got the superslide which has the largest piece of leather. I first increased the cant angle and then started cutting away the leather. The bottom front slot is gone and so is the leather behind the grip. The tan one had the kydex crack so i made my own new shell from tan kydex. It is fun to mod these holsters to get one perfect for me. Google DIY holsters for suppliers of kydex, special screws and nuts etc. I haven't gone to a press and an oven yet but the Harbor Freight heat gun has been invaluable.

The screw-on stand is quite helpful for small adjustments.
