I'm on the verge of purchasing a FSS kit for my new-to-me 4.25" M&P Fullsize 9mm. My hesitation is in deciding between teh Polymer and the Aluminum trigger versions. Is the ~$40 difference between the two worth it? How? Why?

FWIW, my M&P's primary purpose is to be a daily carry gun while working at a gun shop/range and occasionally use it as a USPSA/Steel Challenge competition weapon. This is relegating my SD9VE to a bedside weapon.

(For those who remember, I originally intended to stick with my SD9VE at the gun shop despite my fellow employees mostly all being Glock fanboys there. I managed to trade one of my recumbent bikes to my nephew for this bedside table drawer queen that had never beem shot. Now I have 3 pistols when I originally wanted/intended to own just 1...They're breeding!!! Lol.)

Main difference is in the material polymer or aluminum won't make much difference in performance. Then there is the aluminum flat face trigger but it is not recommended for duty/carry.

I have two FSS kits with polymer trigger one on my FS9, and the other on my FS45 great kit the difference between the factory and the apex is amazing. Mainly use them for range/home defense and carry my shield with the duty/carry kit.

In average my trigger pull is around 5lb, another member got the flat face trigger installed by apex and he is having a 4lb trigger pull.
You might want to consider that in factor how much trigger pull you want on your carry piece.

Another option is the duty/carry action enhancement kit with the corresponding polymer or aluminum trigger.

Give apex a call or email them their customer service is amazing.

The polymer one is easier to install... there's been many a post about how difficult it is to drive the trigger bar pin in, on the aluminum one. Also, the edges of the polymer trigger are rounded and easier on the finger in my opinion.

I much prefer them and have them installed on my FS9 and FS45... personally, I don't think the extra cost of the aluminum trigger is worth it.

You might want to consider the DCAEK (Duty Carry Action Enhancement Kit) instead of the FSS for what your planned primary use is going to be. I have that also installed on both guns, and I kept the stock trigger return spring for a faster return than using the Apex trigger spring in the kit... just my preference.

Have the FFS with flat trigger on three M&Ps, they feel great. Also, important to me is they all feel the same. I shoot the CORE the most, but in the unlikely event that I would need to use the Compact for SD, I know exactly how the trigger will break.

I did not find the flat trigger difficult to install, I used a vise as suggested by Randy in one of the Apex videos.

The flat trigger lets you place your finger wherever it is comfortable, couldn't be more satisified.

how would you compare both kits FSS vs DCAEK? do you have the enhanced trigger with it ?

Check out my thread from a few years ago where I asked the same question when I was considering which Apex kit to buy... people came back with some great info:
http://smith-wessonforum.com/smith-wesson-m-p-pistols/355943-m-p45-newbie-apex-questions.html

The the above thread has a picture of the two, comparing each with a stock trigger.

Yes, I have a polymer enhanced trigger with the DCAEK installed on both of my M&P's. I'm used to the Glock style trigger, and did not care for the feel of 2 piece articulated S&W trigger, so that's why I switched.

I have the FSS kit with poly trigger in my M&P 9C. Because the trigger pull is so light and crisp, I also installed the factory thumb safety.

i don't think the aluminum trigger is any advantage over poly.

Appreciate the inputs thus far as well as the link tot he previous thread. Definitely food for thought.
