To help clear up all the questions around this Old Colt I finally was able to upload some pics. From what I was able to find out it has a Colt 1913 mfg frame with what looks to be most of the original parts with the exception of the mag. and grips (second style checkered walnut). The slide is a Savage with the flaming bomb and "S" removed by the owner after the war. The barrel looks to be a Springfield. This Colt was re-blued sometime after WW1 when he kept if for his own use after the war. All parts with the exception of the mag. look to be early items. There is no "United States property" markings on the frame, same as the Flaming Bomb "S". Why, I would say these were removed as the Vet did not want to be caught with something he should have returned after the war. These parts, although not correct for the 1913 frame, have been with this gun a long time, same as the re-bluing which can be seen with overall even ware to it. I have my price dropped but would still like to trade for a Colt 70 series 1911 in Nickel. Would come down additional without the holster. Look it over and let me know if interested. A really nice piece of history that would be great for a Military Collector. Hope this helps! Thanks for looking.
