With my new model 67 coming soon, was thinking about a full coverage belt holster for safety and protection of the gun during mountain and woods hikes. Anyone have one or know of one? Thanks. Bud

You might also consider "new old stock" police gear available thru Ebay and other sources (robbt here on the forum deals in this pretty regularly).

My "walking in the woods" gear is a duplicate of what I wore on uniform duty for years (it's just MUCH lighter with no radio or cuffs :) ). Look for a 2.5" wide belt (mine is basketweave black for that ooooh la la touch for the woodland critters :) ) and I use a like new Bianchi Judge. Fits K/L frame 4"ers like a glove, CAN"T fall out or become dislodged (it's spring loaded breakfront) and it's also offset on a steel shank that allows me to wear heavier winter coats if needed without having the gun covered at all. Think I paid all of $70 for both when I bought them couple of years ago.

NOTHING, imo, makes walking with iron more comfortable, long term so to speak, than police gear. It evolved to what it is to allow for just that. And it works.

Just my .02 but you could find speedloader pouches, a belt, and the holster above (or other options) for less than a lot of new holsters.

Hope this helps.

Triple K makes an inexpensive full flap leather holster for a 4" Kframe. I purchased one at Cabela's and it works fine; the quality is not as nice as the El Paso flap holsters that I own.

Ray at Lobo Leather will also make a full flap holster for your revolver if you need something less generic.

I have purchased numerous holsters from forum member "robbt".Many of which were new old stock, some still in the packaging.Good man to deal with, good prices, and he probably has what you need.:)

Bianchi model 111 Cyclone. Only thing sticking out, is the grip. Option of either strong side or weak side wearing. Tough as a boot, and available. Oh, one other thing, bloody fast, if necessary.

I recently ordered a lined full flap field holster for my 4" 16-4 from Ray at Lobo Gunleather, $77.50 shipped. Don't have it yet but it's due any day, and if it's the same quality as the other holsters Ray has made for me (and it will be), IMO it's the best holster for the money anywhere, period.

For what its worth...For hunting or carrying a handgun in the field, my preference is toward using an outer belt. I find this much more comfortable than strapping a holster to my trouser belt, plus it is easy to remove and put back on when appropriate. Currently use a reproduction civil war belt by El Paso and slip whatever holster for whatever gun onto it....usually a Threepersons rig.

Simply Rugged makes a great holster, with full coverage that doesn't include a flap. This is one of the most secure holsters with easy access that I own. I can carry a N Frame in it all day and hardly realize it's there.

I agree. A very nice holster with lots of protection. Have one for my 4" 586 stashed somewhere when I used to pack it.

Remember the nice flap holsters on the characters on, "Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World" syndicated TV series? I think they were made in Australia, where the show was filmed. But the Bianchi Model 16 is a dead ringer for them!

Not sure if it's still made, but you might find one on E-Bay or at a gun show.

I'd suggest stitching the belt loop, so that it no longer snaps on or off, though.

If the adjustable sights will fit in it, the Navy flap holsters and Pacific Canvas repros for the Victory model may work for you. But some have only hooks for the GI web belt.

The basketweave here looks awful, unless you use a magnifying glass. Then, it looks pretty good, a lot like Roy Baker had on his original Pancake holsters.

I agree with gkitch... when I'm at the farm or off in the woods I use an outside belt with whatever pistol/holster I'm carrying. It works well for me and it's easier to remove the whole rig when I'm done for the day.
