This is built on a Ruger single shot action as I wanted a quality action to with the custom features. The caliber is my 338 PM wildcat. I designed the cartridge in 1982 wanting to match the 338/378 ballistics. Clocked it at 3200 fps with 250 grain Nosler partition, without excessive pressure signs. Dropped load to 3,000 fps not knowing if the bullet would hold together at higher velocity and close-range shots. Accurate ½” 3 shots cloverleaf at 100 yards. The rifle evolved over several years and was worked on by several great gun smiths. Stock work by Flaig’s of Millvale PA. Nelson was the stock maker. They have been closed for a number of years but the internet has a lot of info, metal work by Frank Wells Tucson AZ, Andy Horvath Ohio, detachable scope mount Dietrich Apel Jaeger Custom Guns. Once the gun was functional I installed a temporary stock, I took it to Africa and shot a number of impalas at 500 plus yards. What was most impressive was its knock down power, retained energy at longer ranges. There are only 2 rifle of this caliber that I lent the reamers for.
If you want this gun can be re-chambered or re barreled to different caliber. RE barreling can use the same exterior contours re using all hardware currently on rifle and maintain the same bedding on forearm. This would give you a full custom gun at a fraction of building it from scratch.
Zeiss European scope rail mount, very expensive and high quality 1.5 – 6 x 42, this scope was not available in US it is the best Zeiss had to offer.
Comes with load data, full set of custom RCBS forming and loading dies 5 boxes of unformed 45 RCBS basic cases, and a lot of formed brass ready to reload.
