So I've been interested in getting a full size M&P 40 and ran across a Pro Series CORE 4.25 for sale locally for $450. Looks like I can get the regular 40 for about the same price. Question, What's the difference in the regular 40 besides the obvious c.o.r.e. feature; which I will probably never buy an optic for anyways; and the Pro Series. Any advantages?

Forgot to add, The c.o.r.e. has a test fire date of 7/13 if that matters.

Never say never. I thought I'd never use an optic with my M&P. Now I have this:

Obviously I don't have the C.O.R.E. model and haven't had the slide milled yet. It is on the radar though.

The PRO model has a better trigger, but from all accounts, it's not better than an Apex upgrade.

Personally, I think the C.O.R.E. for $450 is a good deal and you should go for it.

MY wifes core is a decemeber 13 model that was hanging around our lgs. Trigger pull was nice for a CC . Changes the striker block obly with a apex unit and that smoothed up the trigger pull for 4.5lb pull .

Only other difference is the taller CORE sights . They work as they are or like many you could up grade them for some night sights .

I added a trijicon rm05g optic so its works day or night and no battery. Wifes loves it .

I would buy the CORE. Down the road you may want that feature as it can be CC with the optic . I had to use a soft shooting pistol for a month after hand surgery and my wife let me carry the CORE 9mm.

Going to pick it up tomorrow morning. The price is pretty good. I have the shield 40 and full size 9. I have a IWB holster for the 9mm so the 40 should fit also.
This will be a night stand and range gun so the optic may come in the future.
Thanks

Congratulations on the new 40 Pro C.O.R.E.
I just bought a used one (40 Pro) about two weeks ago and I am Loving it.

c.o.r.e. 40

Picked it up this morning. After examining it, there is absolutely no wear on this gun. Owner said he ran 15 rounds through it and didn't like it and it looks as so. Says he is a "glock guy".

Shot it on the way home and I love it. It feels different then the FS 9mm as far as texture goes. The new backstrap is grippier and doesn't tend to move in the hand. Only shot 25 rounds of my handloads. Very surprised on how little recoil, I guess I'm used to the shield recoil.

Here is a pic
