Yesterday we found out our freezer died.
Ran around found a new frig/ freezer, drug the big cooler out and bought 40lbs. of ice.
We threw away a lot and cooked a lot. For us and the dogs.( boy are they happy)
The frig side was ok so we figured we'd make it until Friday when the new unit shows up.
Then we found out the frig side has now also died.
Second cooler and another 40lbs. of ice.
We're camping out this week!
Oh yeah, the tv is dying too. So we bought one of those while we were there.
I can't believe it, they are giving those things away now! It cost 25% of the one it's replacing and is bigger.
Thanks for that, at least.

I replaced my TV about a year ago for one third the price and it's 7" larger. Plus the picture is way more better.

Then I bought this house, New 'fridge right away. New A/C at the same time.

Expensive A/C and 'fridge but I'm happy with both. Then I added a new kitchen,

It never ends.
 
I got my back hurting working on the lawn this week. But once it's done it'll be easy to keep.

Both baths need remodeling but they can wait. They work just fine but are ugly.

I have to hand it to you friend. I lived for a couple of months out of a cooler after hurricane Andrew and I don't care to do that again.

No. Don't even know where it is.
It's a 2005 model that the water quit working in and the ice door( second one) doesn't close tightly after delivering ice so some melts and ends up clogging the chute.
We're ready for a new one.
 
May of some year about 25 years ago I spent the whole month catching Speckled trout, red fish and black tip sharks. My upright freezer was packed when we left to spend 2 weeks visiting relatives.

A couple of weeks after we got back, I went to that freezer to take out a package of fish for dinner. when I opened the freezer door the smell hit me like a right hook from Mike Tyson. Put me on the floor just as effectively. Spent the next few minutes on my hands and knees throwing up and trying to crawl out of the smell.

I'm very careful opening freezers ever since. You never really get over an experience like that.
 
We have a small freezer in the garage that is a couple years older than our frig. It concerns me and we're working on eating the food in it to a workable amount if it goes south too.
Right now? It's packed

In May of 1978, I was on my Honeymoon. While I was away, the acting foreman had an employee (that was my friend) was given the job of cleaning out an vacant apartment. The power had been off for 2 or 3 weeks, when he opened the full fridge, he passed out and threw up. He was found about 15 or 20 minutes later. They ask him what he thought he was doing on the floor? The had him go up to the pool house and get the gas mask from the chemical room and finish the job!

I got to hear both sides of it when I got back. As far as I was concerned, I didn't have to clean the fridge!

He it is 40 years later and my friend still can't eat Indian Food!

Thank the Lord we were home, at least. If this had happened when we were at her Moms?....she would still be cleaning it out.
I don't deal well with dog poop, puke or I imagine a week old dead refrigerator full of rot.
 
We had a similar thing happen with ours. We have a freezer on the bottom, refrigerator on top, with double doors. anyhow suddenly the refrigerator quit cooling, and our food warmed up to unacceptable levels. After beating our heads together, and running in circles, we discovered that the Freezer had been left partially cracked open. When the freezer went in defrost mode, ice formed on the back of the freezer, and prevented the cold air from circulating. Ten minutes with a hair drier, and we were back in business. We've become a lot more careful about closing the freezer.
 
Back in my cop days, got a call about a house where the occupant hadn't been seen in several days. When I got there, the bottle flies were seen all over the inside of the windows, which is a VERY bad sign. Since the house was locked, I called my supervisor and an evidence tech. I was told by the sarge to guard the perimeter while he and the tech went inside. I didn't argue a bit!

Well, they went inside and luckily no one was inside. However, the power had been off for several days (it was July in Alabama). A refrigerator full of rotting meat smells just like a dead body. :(
 
My sad story. The Wife wanted a new frying pan so I bought it. Got home and it didn't fit on the cook top, too big (a Jenn Air with a fan in the center and a metal lip around the whole thing). Had to buy a new cook top and while we were at it she wanted new counter tops and of course the wall oven had to match the cook top. Anyway, there went $5K because of a frying pan. Of course, a week later the refrigerator died. If I ever meet the guy who developed Murphy's law, he's a goner.
 
When you die....

....they count up all the money you have spent on cars, appliances, yard equipment, home repairs, doctors, AC, plumbing, vet bills and anything else that gets in the way of having fun. The one that spends the most, wins and gets to spend eternity with bragging rights.:):p:D:cool:

Well, not just like, but near enough that it doesn't make much difference in the response to the smell. A refrigerator/freezer that's been off line about a week or two or more and that's full of food, especially meat, is just about as bad as it gets!
 
Yes they do have a unique one of a kind odor.

Your ex-wife took the fridge? Man, that’s just cold!:D
 
Update... the new frig arrived, new TV is hooked up and running, stashing the coolers....my FEG is enroute to me and my 28 is enroute home to Mass. to be fixed.
That's all I can do for now and I'm appreciating the change of events.

Buddy at work has a small travel trailer he keeps plugged in with an inverter to keep the fridge / freezer cold and the power jacks handy. Last night he went to prep for the weekend and found someone had stepped on the power cord just enough to break the connection but not enough to detach from the outlet.
He had squid for bait in the freezer ripening for about 2 weeks.
 
I'm kind of dreading the day my TV (a plasma) dies and I have to get a new one. Seems like every TV now is 'smart'. The biggest thing I notice about them is they are slow to respond and prone to crash. I would much rather have just a dumb monitor and use my PS3 to stream shows. Don't need it built into the TV.

If they are anything like my iPad, after a few years OS updates will quit becoming available due to age. Then the apps will quit working because they will require the new and unavailable OS. Then the TV will become a paperweight.

I still don't understand why a fridge needs an internet connection...

But she was a really good housekeeper, she kept the house, the refrigerator the darn remote! When it rains it pours.
