Hi,
I recently bought (3 weeks ago) a sw40ve. Now for a very long time (14 years to be exact) I shot glocks,1911's, revolver's (my favorite J-frame with a 2 1/2 inch barrel stainless) all the time. I never did like the grip angle of glocks I just learned to use it that way. I had in the past picked up and held a few sw9ve's and sw40ve's but never bought one.....dumb
I know.
I finally found this used VE at a pawn shop and decided to get it. I had come to the realization through shooting other weapons that are not very highly regarded (HiPoint 9mm carbine and pistol) is very subjective and undeserved. I own two HiPoint 9mm carbines they have been flawless. I digress.
This Sw40Ve has been terrific! I have fired only 150 rounds through it (180 grain lead reloads) and it has been outstanding. The loads, there are two of them, ...4.8 grains of Green Dot and 5.2 grains of WSF. Both shoot very well. The slight edge goes to the WSF but barely. I can keep all my shots on a 4 inch by 4 inch plate at 45 feet. I bought some extra magazines (sigma .40 S&W) and all of them (3) are running just fine.
I can shoot this handgun for a long time and not get tired of it like I do when I shoot my Glock 23. The grip angle is absolutely perfect (1911
) for me to use. That translates into less shooting fatigue....boy does it feel good. All the complaining about the trigger pull is stupid. All of my glocks have the New York #1 trigger pull installed for carry use. The SW40VE feels exactly the same. This 40ve is now my daily carry. Stoked with 155 grn Federal HST.
Concealed carry is easier than a Glock 23 (way easier) because the 40ve is thinner in just the right places. I carry appendix 12:30 just past the midline to the right. It is night and day between the glock and the 40ve. The 40ve just flat out carries better appendix or 3:00 hip carry. I am tickled pink...no pun intended!
.
Took a friend shooting last weekend and we were hitting my 2/3 size steel IPSC humanoid from Arntzen targets at 100 yards. Not every shot but enough out of 50 rounds that my friend walked away wanting to find one in 9mm
. That's too bad, because I put the two SW9VE's at the same pawn shop I bought my 40ve at on lay-a-way.....
. That same pawn shop let me have them both at the same price I paid for my 40ve which was $275.00 each. All three of them ,the 40ve and both 9ve's had less than a box through any of them. Tickled pink again...
.
Sorry, I just had to share my experiences.
I can shoot lead all day and not worry about it.
I can shoot all day and have FULL chamber support.
I can shoot all day next to a gun that cost $300 more and shoot the same or better.
I now have an AMERICAN made pistol in an AMERICAN caliber.
Regards
