A couple of years back the formerly great state of California instituted a background check requirement to buy ammo. It cost ONLY $1. On July 1 of this year it goes up to $5. Camel's nose under the tent flap.

Wow! There's a lot not to like about my own state, but it looks like living in the Peoples Republic of California is getting to the point of absurdity. If the riots, fires, earthquakes and mudslides weren't enough, a five buck charge tacked on to all ammo purchases goes beyond what people should have to endure. I have to admit that I have enjoyed my few visits to CA; the scenery is incredible. Best to keep it as a vacation spot and live elsewhere.
