G10 Grip Sanding/Forming???

What is the best way to sand/form/modify grips that are made from G10?

I understand it is basically a fiberglass material that is laminated with epoxy.

Would not like to damage the grips beyond repair, so any advice on what tools/procedure to use would be appreciated.

Hand sanding if you are only removing a little material. Power sanding if you have a lot to remove, but be careful. It goes fast, unlike micarta.

The only time I've made alterations to G10 was on these 1911 grips. I used sandpaper to knock the points off of the golf ball texture. They were just too grippy. It didn't take very much at all using 500 grit, then finished them to 2000 grit. I hit them with a little bit of mineral oil when I was done.

Forgot to mention, wear protection when raising a lot of dust.
