Today I was in the mood to admire some guns, so I swung by Gander Mtn. to browse. They had some nice guns (outstandingly overpriced). One of the shotguns they had made a strange rattle/"something inside is sliding" noise... but ANYWAY, not my point.

Their ammo was stocked! I mean... nearly full. They might not have had the best, but they had every handgun cartridge.. except....

...

9mm.

Other then that they had something for everyone. They even had the "2 Box Limit" sign down. Could this be a sign of things to come?

I doubt it, I just got lucky. But yeah, I was impressed.

I only took 2 boxes of .38 special. ($19.99 per box, I got 10% off so it was about $38 for 100 round.) I didn't need it, but I figured I'd take advantage.

Lucky you. You must have been there right after their shipment arrived. I've been dying to find some .357s (and I don't reload). Sigh.. it's my fault though. I just rant out.... I have a good amount of .38s and .44s though.

I know for a fact an employee at my local Wal Mart is buying up ammo when it comes in and selling it for a good profit later.

looking into reloading is certainly an option....100 rounds of that 38 can be reloaded the way YOU want it for about $10.00....if you cast your own lead....cut that $10.00 roughly in half...just a thought

i agree its not going to be the trend. you were lucky to see such a selection!

I've been predicting that the ammo manufacturers would catch up with demand in a couple of months. (Let's not nit-pick that I've been making that prediction for about 4 months).

$19.99 / 50 for .38 Special seems on the high side, be we may have to get used to that. I was at a local gun shop and they had a new shipment of powder. Very few primers, however.
