gas block replacement

Hobie,
Which muzzle brake did you put on your rifle and what power scope are you running?

That is one of Tacticool's brakes from the 15-22 forum. I put it on more for the heck of it since I bought it originally for my 15-22p(just to look..er..cool) As far as it's effect, frankly I can't say yea or nay one way or the other.

The scope is a Leupold 3.5x10, yep, went and looked this a.m.,great glass that came off a Remington .308 police gun I bought and later put a mil-dot Burris 8x32 on it. Sure does bring things up close..

Magpul recommends that you NOT use their front sight on a railed gas block due to heat.

You can get the Yankee-Hill machine folding front sight gas block. It's cheaper than buying a railed gas block and then a folding front sight. I have it on my MOE, and it's great.

new muzzle brake

I have a machinist who is making a muzzle brake for me, he has an original design that I like that he makes for .22 and he is changing it up slightly for me. Making it 2.5 inches long and leaving out the ports and slots from 4 to 8 oclock. He is willing to work with anyone in making a muzzle brake for them. I asked Tacticool about his and he said he was sold out and no longer making them so I am not stepping on his toes. Wouldnt want to. Anyway I am posting a pic of the basic design and if any one has any questions or wants to talk with him I can give you his email:

Has anyone replaced their gas block and then noticed the action of the rifle being stronger. I replaced the gas block and now I have more felt recoil, it could be that I cleaned it out very good also but I know that my recoil is stronger and even shooting .223's they are ejecting a lot more forcefully. Any ideas?
