I've been divesting myself of many firearms I've collected over the years and I've got 3 Gen 3s (6906, 5903 & 4536) I'd like to add to my carry rotation. Rather than think about selling them.

I'm a big fan of carrying DA/SA pistols.

That being said, they could stand some trigger improvement.

Recommendations?

I'm not into self gunsmithing.

Thanks.

Find the stickys at the top of this forum page.
Click on the one entitled "Notable Thread Index".
Scroll down to find the section of articles on "3rd Generation".
Click the Last article entitled "S&W 3rd gen complete disassembly video".
Find the first post by BlueBellyYankee in which he links to four YouTubes which completely detail the assembly and disassembly of our pistols.

Or you can click this one which I have included here for your convenience, but I wanted you to notice the stickys :-)
This is the first of four videos:[ame]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=17v7fo6oe_c[/ame]

The young gunsmith may appreciate these videos also as an introduction which will enable him to begin working on your guns. I have checked with three local gunsmiths in the area since my gunsmith retired, with dementia I am afraid, and they each claim that they will have no problem doing anything I need, though they all admit to no experience whatsoever with my guns. Two of them literally did not recognize them. I have a new business card now of another option, a man and his wife who may have been in business long enough to have worked on 3rd gens. If that works, then great! But if not, I plan to ask them to review these videos and maybe even pay them to do it. There was another who had success doing just exactly this.

One of my heroes here on our forum was our departed comrade, 18DAI, who lived in my area. I miss him often. He could have told me who in the Piedmont NC area might still work on these guns. The problem is that they are so rugged and reliable that there is NO MONEY in fixing them.

Kind and Good to You!
