I recently asquired a like new 1026. I can't easily remove the side plate. Videos that i have seen are without the decocker, which this one has. I can't find a video showing disassembly in models with decocker. Help, please.

I found the problem. There is a small retaining ring surrounding the pin on the right side. The problem is how to remove and reinstall.

Unless you are very familiar with assembly and disassembly of the decocking mechanism, I would not go any further than "field stripping". These guns have their own special set of instructions for repair and disassembly, and speaking from experience, they are a bear to get back together properly.

If you are mainly concerned with cleaning the internals, and there are no repair issues, this is one instance where I would strongly recommend using a flushing compound like Guns Scrubber or non-chlorinated carb spray, and then a light re-lubrication after blowing dry.

Thank you.
The purpose of the disassembly was to polish the sear/hammer interface to smooth the trigger and lighten the trigger pull.
I had already removed the sear and disconnect. So, following your sage advice, I didn't go any further. I did polish the sear and lubed the very dry interior.
Reduced the pull from 6# to 4.5#.
I think I could further reduce the pull and creep by working on the trigger return mechanism.he Can this be removed independent of the rest of the fcu?
