General price check on S&W Revolvers.

I will buy you lunch if you can show me any new handgun (pistol or revolver) that is under $1200 that shoots as nice as my 1960 k-32 or 1959 model 28. They just don't make 'em like that any more. IMHO. And I think more people realize that driving up demand which drives up prices.

That's because I wasn't. I thought JFK and LBJ were dangerous liberals. The only thing about J Edgar that I didn't understand was why he bothered with the hippies rights. Long hair, bunk. I had a flat top.

It seems to me that folks are asking a lot more for the revolvers they have for sale the I remember them being worth.
Case in point, a local guy has a M67 in nice shape and he's asking $450 for it, same for another local guy that has a well used M28, he's wanting $450.
That just strikes me as high from what I remember I use to pay for these guns. Seems like a M28 would be worth around $325-$350 and a M67, even in perfect shape, would only be worth $300-$350.
I guess I've been out of touch as far as revolver prices have gone but dang, are these things getting to be really worth that much? Can someone list some of the more popular S&W Revolvers along with reasonable prices that they're going for now days. Thanks.

Can I buy your Model 28's???

;)

Ammo appears to have gone up more than gold.

I found a box of White box 9mm with $3.99 on it that I bought a few years ago.

When you see online prices for guns, don't forget that you will be paying shipping and transfer fees on top of that. The last gun that I bought online had $25 shipping and my FFL charged me $20 to transfer it.

I can get a Sig Pro 2340, 40S&W Ctg., 12+1 for $375, can't beat that deal with a stick and they shoot pretty well to boot.

And I picked up a Sig P250 .45 with three mags and night sights for 350. After some quality gunsmith time, it's now reliable and my bump in the night gun. It works, but it ain't a Smith.

The Sig P250 had issues that the Sig Pro never had. Still, like I said, a gun to me is a tool and it's just logical to pick the best tool you can get for the least amount of money. The only reason that I'm into the S&W 642 is because I got it for around $325. I'd not have paid more for it though.

I just read an article last week on how the interest in revolvers has gone up lately. They are getting more difficult to find, new or used.

The worth of any gun is not the dollar cost to purchase it but the desire of the person buying it. I have paid more than a gun was worth many times over the years. On occasion, I was fortuate enough to get a gun for less than market price.

Demand will bring up the price of things and guns are no exception. I am being told that more guns were bought last year than at any time in recent history. That alone will cause the price of revolvers to increase.

I feel that people are now beginning to want better quality and looks than the black plastic guns. Let's hope so.
