Starting my junior year in high School, my mom bought me 3 or 4 pair of "Gold Toe" Argyle socks for Christmas until I had been married for around 7 or 8 years (I was around 30). I wore white or black socks to work in so the "Dress Socks" seemed to pile up in the drawer, around 3 dozen pair of socks. So I started wearing them the all the time (BUT NEVER WITH SANDLES). Tan uniform, brown work shoes and argyle socks of any color. Went to blue work clothes and argyle socks. Went to summer shorts and collared T-shirts with white tennis shoes and argyle socks. Well they finally all wore out. That was when the comments started. Come to find out there was a pool at work on my socks and when I went back to white or black socks some people lost a good sized jackpot.[ 5 people put in one dollar a week, each person had a day of the week, when I wore "normal" socks 4 people lost out on around $700] It has been years since I've had any argyle socks, and if I never get another pair, that would be just fine!
