Single or double action?

J.P. Sauer & Sohn made quality single action revolvers sold under a variety of trade names in the US. Herter's & Great Western were two. They generally marked the trade name in large lettering on the barrel and somewhere in much smaller lettering would be the JP Sauer & Sohn.

Rohm made double actions of widely varying quality that sold under a equally widely varying number of trade names. Add Arminus (Arminius?) to RG. The bottom of the price list qualified as paperweights. IIRC, all the frames were aluminium. Wiki says that Rohm Gmbh made firearms from 1950-2010 when they sold the line to another firm.

Hawes was the trade name my doddering memory wouldn't retreive. Yup, a Sauer & Sohn product also. I strongly suspect it's were made, not are made.

I think it is a Reck

Reck Sportwaffenfabrik

Thank's for all sugestions, ´
i'll forward them to him.

Back in the 60's a lot of single actions were made in W Germany as the earlier poster said Hawes made serveral brands, I used to have one that was a Liberty. J P Sauer would have been one of the best. Jeff
