I am one of the guys on this forum that reads and learns more than I post. During alot of my reading I have noticed that the more I read peoples posts the more I get to know them, and I have come to feel like this forum is extended family. Unfortunately, due to the fact I don't post as much as I read no one really knows much about me. I think it would be a good idea for me to get better acquainted with you guys and vice versa.

Well, to start I am currently living in Columbus, Ga. I have only been here for a short while but I am really beginning to like the area. However due to a pretty big stint of unemployment I will be moving to New York with a good friend in the Army to help watch his children and get back on my feet. I am kind of afraid of New York's gun laws to be honest!

I am a concealed carrier, and I have done a lot of research on the subject. I have studied courses from Thunder Ranch, J.Clark, Bill Wilson, First Response, Valhalla Institute, and a few others. I also really enjoy working on my guns and when my financial situation improves I will be building my first custom 1911.

I used to do quite a bit work wise. I did commercial construction, Professional Tattooing, I was an assistant supervisor at a synthetics plant, and now with my excess of free time I am teaching myself to build holsters. The other night I found out I have a knack for leather carving and made myself a BBQ holster for my Kimber Gold Match.

I am also married and have been for almost 3 years, and I have 2 kids, a boy and a girl. My son is 3, and my daughter will turn 2 this July. I swear they keep me going more than anything some days! I met their mother in a convenience store and she wiped chapstick down the side of my face, and we have been in love ever since!

Over the little while I have been able to own handguns, I am 21, I have had a few good ones. I got started on a SW99 in .40, followed shortly by a S&W model 15-2, and then I got the snubby bug and got a 638-3. But then I got a Taurus PT1911AR and found out I love 1911's almost as much as I do S&W's. My favorite 1911 so far is my 10 year old Kimber Gold Match. It was a safe queen and I got it for a song. Unfortunately, I recently sold my Smiths off to fix my car and pay a few bills, but it happens. I am ok with my 2 1911's for now.

But that is a little about me, now how about you guys?

I'm USAF385, known as "Ski" by most in real life.

I'm 25 and served in the USAF in both Iraq and Afghanistan as an AC-130U Spooky aerial gunner. I was discharged after a head injury and after I got home started doing HVAC with my father. This past fall I started a two year Biomedical Equipment Tech. program at a local college, but decided to switch to HVAC so I can take over my father's business legit.

I live on 164 acres in rural PA that I own with my older brother (who is currently in the Air Force, he joined after me!). I'm blessed to be able to shoot whenever I want on my own land.

I've been dating a girl I've known since Kindergarten for the past five years. She is a vegan but the crazy thing is I enjoy the food she makes 10x more than anything I make for myself. She's also somewhat into shooting, so that is a plus as well.

As far as guns go, I was into long guns by the time I was 4 or 5 and got into handguns during my military service, where I qualified as a small arms expert with both the M16 and M9. I do a lot of rifle shooting, but I don't hunt. My favorite calibers are: .22LR, .30-30, .30-06, .40S&W and .357Mag.

My other hobbies include: weight training, running, bicycling, boxing, Krav Maga, hiking, camping, kayaking, photography, archery and reading.

I recently re-enlisted in the USAF, but this time in the Reserve. I'll be on an aircrew again, but as a loadmaster this time.

Man you have done quite a bit, I also have been hunting and shooting since I was 4 or 5 and I also study martial arts. Two schools of ninjutsu and traditional Muai Thai are my strongest. Glad to see you get to go back in the air, and thanks for your service!

I am an old man that has been fortunate in life. I was born in Alabama but have lived in north Louisiana since 1952. Multi degeed and served in some form of law enforecement or another since 1966 Opened my consulting firm in 1986 full time and do accident & crime scene reconstruction for courts, police agencies, attorneys, courts and insurance companies.

Avid shooter, gun collecter, pilot, horseman, accomplished photographer and woman chaser.

Favorite gun is S&W 66 or 686 with 4 inch barrel. Gun I shoot the most is either Colt or S&W 1911. Gun I carry most is Glock 22. Gun brand I hate most is Glock.

I'm a former paralegal and am now the site manager of a low-income senior citizen apartment building and it's greatly rewarding.

I have been shooting since I could see over the bench because my dad was, and still is, very active in gun clubs and still shoots almost every day. I am currently learning cowboy action shooting and also taking the NRA Certified Instructor courses both to enhance my own skills and also to encourage more women to get into shooting.

Hi... my name is Jim and I'm an addict...
Damn... wrong forum...
I am 38 years old, my residence is listed as Va on my drivers license.
I live in whatever motel/hotel my employer decides to stick me in... in whatever state that happens to be.
I do telecom installations nationwide and have done so, with the occasional break since 1996.
I am on my 3rd marriage, but I have high hopes for this one.
She told me that she doesnt think she can handle being a 2 time divorcee... but doesnt think that she would mind being a widow that much.
2 sons and 1 stepson that I see when I can, just spent last weekend with my 2 boys.
I lucked into finding a woman that totally blows my mind.
She does her own auto maintenance, loves to go shooting with me, reloads for me when I am out of town, is one hell of a cook, makes me feel like a god, and refuses to let me cut the lawn or do yardwork...
I have been into shooting since I was about 12.
First "gun" was a daisy pal bb gun at the age of 8, first real gun was a Marlin model 60 at 12.
Got my first pistol, Star Super, at 21.
Always was an auto fan... till I bought my first S&W, a 629-1.
I now carry big bore wheel guns while on the road, and a 1911 when home.
I have 3 cats and no dogs or birds.
I enjoy, in addition to shooting and all things gun related... auto mechanics, driving, sleeping, eating, pretending that I am sleeping, travel, sightseeing, eating some more, and taking naps.
I also try to blend in wherever I am.
Being 6'4" 290 lbs and wearing a kilt makes this easier for me than most, as I walk towards people they move aside and turn their heads... its kind of like being invisible.
I was born in Macon Ga, went to school in Ga and around Denver Co... and graduated from a small town in southern Mo.
I honestly dont remember a time I wasnt traveling, moving, settling it, or preparing to move.

I had questions about a nickel 15-3 4", LNIB, that I'd paid the princely sum of 265 good American dollars for back in 2003. What I learned sent me back to pick up the 15-2 blued for inch that had been sitting next to it for a few dollars less.

Those guns were sold in 2006 when I sold everything and moved across country to marry a woman I'd never met face to face. (See the how you met your spouse thread for reference).

Anyway, these days I'm a stay at home dad. I have two sons, a fifteen month old and a two and a half year old. A third baby is due in December. Five or six should be a good number.

I used to do other things. Writer, religious charlatan, failed career with the State Department, slum lord, gigolo... bit of this, bit of that. By random chance met a woman, took a bigger chance, became a homemaker.q

These days I find myself 36 years old and starting to get a tan chasing my kids around since they like to play outside. I live on Parris Island MCRD, which is sort of a swamp. My wife is career Navy. This should be her last duty station before retirement. Then we're going to Oregon or WA or something. I don't like the heat. I'm from Michigan. Strangely, my wife doesn't like it either and she's from NC and FL.

Following my wife I've been from MI to WA to VA to SC and crossed many states in between.

I am headed to the fort drum area Ladder, but I am glad to see this thread is working out, I like being able to know who I am talking to!;)

Make sure you have a great snow plow or snow blower.;) Bring lots of cold weather clothing too. :(
OTOH, beautiful area with lots of hunting and fishing opportunities.
Might take awhile to get a "pistol license", some say up to 6 months. Fort Drum area may be quicker. Leave the handguns home until you get a license, then have them shipped in by an FFL.

Hi, my name is Wayne and I'm a S&Waholic. I'm 57 years old and I'm American, Southern, Texan, Christian, conservative (but Republicans always dissappoint me) and a lonely old batchelor. I've been a municipal employee for the last 10 years. I like the music and cars of the '60s, and big 4 cylinder motorcycles of the '70s and '80s. I like it here.

I'm Mark, 40 years old, recently divorced, and a parts man in a pretty large local Ford dealership. I've been in the parts business 22 years this summer, and it's about all I've ever known. I love hot rods, Mustangs in particular, and all handguns, but S&W's are my weakness. No kids, but my ex-wife has my Shih Tzu and Yorkie, which are BETTER than kids; they ALWAYS love you, even when you discipline them. :) I'm still close to my ex; no sense in being asses to each other just because you can't stay married. Other than that, that's about it. I live with my 80 year old father now, who's probably in a hell of a lot better shape than I am! Just me and him; my Mom died five years ago. He's got a pretty big house, so it's like having my own place, and I figure he can use the help with yardwork and such. No matter whether you're in good shape or not, at 80, I figure you can use help.

I live in Habersham county Georgia. I'm 38 and been a fulltime paramedic for 16 years. I also own a landscape company, i've been pretty successful. I have one fulltime employee and we work every day except sunday. I"ve been marries to a great girl for five years. I own a model 10 and a model 57. I love the 57 i've had it since my dad gave it to me when I was 15.

About myself. I am 46, recently got married, I work in IT. I have lived in central TX my entire life. I like being lazy and sleeping but I am a guy.

Hobbies include the usual for a gun forum, shooting, plinking, and seeing what I can find that I can't live without.

I love to cook and eat! I did have to learn about healthier cooking and eating about 2 years ago after being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. No more drinking that much for me. Lost 40 pounds in the past two years, so I am looking more like I did when I was in high school, except that my hair is rapidly deserting me.

I read a lot, and love older country and R&R music.

Mike from St Pete FL, originally from South Jersey. And yes if you are from Jersey you know there is a difference. I moved into Florida 20 years ago and that is when I started getting into guns that had rifling. Mostly in NJ I shot at waterfowl now I shoot at cardboard and such.
Recently divorced after 30 years married, 55 years old and an industrial mechanic for money to support my shooting.
Started handloading about 10 years ago but had to take some time off for heart surgery. I shoot mostly Military rifles, and S&W revolvers. Thankfully when my ex ran off with her hippy BF she left her S&Ws behind.
SeYa Mike
