Been hot here. Hot for us anyway. Near 100 *F and nearly 100% humidity. That is a heat wave for us up here in the great white north! :)

I know my southern casting brothers are of a much stouter lot than I but still, needing bullets in the summer can be a bummer to work up!

I thought, well, it is 83*F outside right now so the garage is a bit above that at near 90*F but, hey, I need bullets and the stores are closed and they wouldn't have what I wanted anyway cause some hoarder just left with 5000 of what I usually get so...........Out to the garage I go!

Bullet of choice tonight to start with is the venerable H&G #68 from an original Hensley & Gibbs mould. After the pot warmed up, I cast about 1/2 of a Lee 4-20 Bottom pour pot's worth out in about 20 minutes. Yielded somewhere in the neighborhood of 100 good bullets. At 4 bullets per cast and the yield was good. Pleased to say the least.

Now, the mould for the Saeco 230gr LRN is warming up with a new melt in the pot. Be back in about an hour with some pictures.

100 degrees is hot I don't care where you live. It's only supposed to be in the mid-80's here tommorow. I've got my alarm set for 6AM- getting an early start helps.

I think I will go shooting tomorrow. My casting with the Saeco didn't go too well, hot, tired and giving it up for the evening!

I'm more crazy in my old age also. It has been over 100 every day lately and more of the same tomorrow...BUT, I am going shooting. We do have a couple of shade trees at the farm and I do have some ammo that is begging to be shot. It's good therapy after minor foot surgery today and before the colonoscopy Monday.

I went out today to try my new bipod on the .357 Handi rifle. It was steady as a rock and a max load of SR 4756 with a 125 gr Golden Saber was eating clay pigeons at 100 yards with every shot!

It's still 87 degrees here at 11:20 pm, but I have some painting to do tomorrow that will be under an air conditioner! It's supposed to cool off next week to the high 90s, instead of 100+. If I was casting, it would be in the loading room with A/C. ;)

I cast in an unheated, uncondition garage sometime I run out of cast bullets in the summer time, such as now.
So I take a nap in the afternoon and then go out in the cooler night time and cast then. It is cooling down to the low 80's high 70's between 10:00 PM and 1:00 AM. I cast one night and then size and lube the next night. Retirement is Great.

Asleep by 1:30-2:00 am awake by 8:00 AM When it is range day I ge there around 9:00 AM

My casting set up is in a metal storage building....no A/C.

Yep, I get all of it done in the winter and whittle away at the pile during the year. I have cut way back on casting regardless. Now, I only do .30 and 8mm rifle bullets and .32 bullets for .32 ACP and .32 Long.

It is bass-ackward logic on my part but I would just rather purchase the stuff I shoot the most (.38 WC, SWC & .40) than slave away over a hot lead pot to turn out the quantity of them I need. I also am getting wacky in my old age.:D

That is wacky. You have kids, and not making them cast bullets in the garage for you, while you enjoy the a/c inside. Crazy stuff :)
