Getting a 642.

Well, after going semi-auto for a few years I'm back to a revolver again. I'm trading in my Beretta PX4 Storm in 40cal to a guy for a S&W 642 & Cash. The cash will just be enough to get me into a set of reloading dies, bullet mold, bullet sizer die and a couple three speed loaders. That way I can load up some inexpensive plinking ammo. Still don't know if I'll go with an IWB holster or get a set of Hip Grips so I won't need a holster. Guess I'll have to see how the factory grips feel first. Anyway, just wanted to share and let ya'll know that I'm back into the S&W Revolver Club,LOL. Talk to ya'll later.

I've been checkin' in to the forum off and on for a while now, just didn't have anything to post. With any luck when we get our tax return money back I'll also pick up a SW99 in 40cal to replace the PX4 Storm that I'm trading for the 642. Found a place that has a pretty good deal on em' right now. Just hope they're still in stock.

Not so much a "convert" as a RE-Vert,LOL. I've owned more revolvers then semis over the years. Always end up going back to em' mostly because I'm too lazy to look for brass after I get done shooting. In my hay day I had a Model 36 J-Frame that I converted to DAO and slicked up, a 38/44 Nickel Heavy Duty, 4" and two Model 27's, a 3 1/2" and an 8 3/8" ALL AT THE SAME TIME. That was truly "Revolver Heaven". LOL.

For handloads I plan on going with 158gr SWC home cast over 4.5grs of Unique for a good mid-power load.

Also drifting back to snub J-frames after about three years dedicated to a Kahr PM9. New El Paso Saddlery IWB clip-on is cementing the deal.

This is a picture of my M642 and it's brother M442.

I use a Barami Hip Grip when I IWB my M638. I have used hip grips for thirty five years and never a problem. These are my regular carry guns.

Now I have a Smith and Wesson SW99, 40cal and a 686, 4" on my "Wish List". Not sure which I'll get first, it'll probably depend on the price.
