I didn't get a flu shot last year because the epidemiologists guessed wrong and the vaccine was only about 40% effective. I'll probably get it this year in the next few weeks.

I think the pharmaceutical companies are pretty close to a vaccine that will work on all variations of influenza. That will be nice and it will likely be much more effective than what we have now.

Redlevel: Serious answer to a serious question. I don't get the shot because I do not believe I have a need. In my last job I missed 6 days of work, due to illness, in 17+ years (worked with people who had kids and they were sick all the time, not me). In the 20 years prior to that, less than 10 days ( a large part of that Time I worked with people who were sick, dying or dead of some pretty scary stuff (TB, Typhoid, AIDs). I now have little or no contact with small or school age children or seriously ill people. When I feel ill, I stay home ( I do have friends that have serious health issues and even a bad cold is a problem for them). As I said in my first post, I have no problem with those that feel it is right for them. But I do not think it is right for me. My choice, my call. As for my snarky comment to the doc. Just saying no thank you, doesn't seem to work. Hard-headed ? Probably!
