Hopefully, this will help somebody.
Yesterday, I was pumping gas and I got gas on my jacket sleeve. it's denim-ish material - like the old school work jackets. Since, I didn't want to toss it, and it was fairly new, I wanted to try to get the gas smell out.
I carry some garbage bags in my vehicles, they come in handy, tossed my jacket in one and went home.
Jacket went into the wash by itself with regular detergent and some Dawn dish washing liquid. and nothing worked after multiple washes - still smelled.
I was getting a frustrated, so I called a friend who used to work at a dry cleaner. She told me to put 1.5 to 2 cups of white vinegar and wash as normal. Two washes and it was good!
