If you're planning to get a trigger job on your gun, just keep in mind the NRA rule book. If I recall correctly it is a minimum of 2 1/2 lbs on a .22 and 4 lbs on a .45. I have run or participated in a bullseye (.22) indoor league for about 30 years, and a ruger will hold it's own on the 50 ft gallery course. You would have to be shooting near Master before really needing anything better. Ammo is critical, test lots of different ammo to see what works in your gun, then buy a lot of it. It isn't always the most expensive ammo that groups best in your gun, (but often it is).

The prior post on trigger pulls made me curious. We always have a lot of opinions in our club as what the allowed trigger pulls are but....very little consensus. I just checked the NRA rule book and it states : 2lbs for 22, 2.5 lbs for centerfire and 3.5 lbs for 45. Even if you use the 45 for the centerfire, you must have 3.5 lbs.
However, I have never participated but, I understand there is a 45 match where only service ammo is allowed (ball 230 grains) where the trigger pull is higher.... 4 or 4.5 lbs (?). I believe this is called the service match. I can't seem to find the rule book on this. Anyone out there able to clarify??

Ooops! I'm ok on the 22 but, my 45 is definitely under by about 1/2 lb. Good thing nobody checks at our matches! I better fix it if I ever travel to the regional matches!

I have seen a couple over the years but, as part of a collection only. Have yet to see one in actual use in a match. Too bad...... never understood owning a gun and not using it.
