Ginger Baker Dies at 80

I still enjoy listening to Cream. They made some great music.

Sad, but not unexpected. Jack Bruce died a few years back. They both struggled with addiction and were lucky to live as long as they did. I hope they both finally found peace.

Eric Clapton,Ginger Baker & Jack Bruce-that's all ya needed to say....... The old greats are quickly dying off. Bits of our youth slowly being chipped away. :(
DO you think the kids will feel the same way sometime in the future when Brittney Spears dies

No, not so much, they have already forgotten her.

Now if and when Taylor Twit goes, there will be a National Day of Mourning!:)

IIRC-he was the first with twin-amplified base drums. He and Bruce were jazz men up until Cream-just marvelous. Some years back I was in an "accident" and the sound system in my truck was effected negatively. But one day I just turned it on anyway, and that famous live recording of "Cross roads" was on, but only the base side was clear-you could hear the lead-but it was way in the back. So that's when I first really heard something called "rhythm base"- remember- it was "just" the 3 of them!!! If you can isolate the base in that song so that you can hear the lead in the background, you may agree with me that he was the best base in the world-with no fret bars on the neck of his base!

AWG...GAG....CHOKE..........

They probably will due to lack of general knowledge about everything.

I was in a record store with my dad (he was looking for Buzz Martin, a singing logger) when I was nine, and saw "Fresh Cream" on the shelf. I remember wondering what kind of music that was, not knowing that not too long in the future I would really, really like it.

May Ginger rest in peace.

I don't know how old Clapton is but I'm pretty sure he's the youngest. I'd say all things considered, Ginger exceeded reasonable probabilities. I know Clapton struggled for years to clean up and I think he made it....at least he doesn't look wasted. I went to one of his concerts back in the early '90s and he kept a cigarette burning which was stuck in the guitar. I noticed since I had quit shortly before.
