About 15 years ago, on a visit, my daughter told me she had gotten her CC permit & wanted advice on what to buy.

We went to the range to test drive a M39 I had. (key word here is 'had')

I was digging for a target to post & she said " I'll just shoot at that orange thingie on the ground."

It was the plastic cap for a spray paint can, at 37 yards. She hit it 5 for 7 off hand & took the gun home with her.

Don't you just HATE it when the girls out-shoot you?

Just got a line on a set of ivory grips & her b-day is Jan. 9.

Coincidence? I don't believe in coincidence!

My 24 year old (she will be 25 at Midnite tonite, a New Years Day baby) girl child ended up with my Sig P6 the same way. I thought I was gonna teach her how to shoot it, she ended up putting mag after mag center mass...
It is at her house now, along with the .22 pistol we took to the range that day....

My little girl will soon be 44 - - Hmmmm- reminds me of that 629 6" I used to have. But that's another story!

I was in my Custom Indoor 10 Meter Air Rifle Range (wifey calls it the garage) the other day with a new air rifle. My eldest daughter shows up with her boyfriend and asks "where's Daddy?" So, they come down, bf looks interested, so I let him shoot. He did ok, out of the 5-ring, on the white background, with two or three shots. My daughter says "let me shoot it" and proceeds to put three shots almost touching, in the bull! With a rifle she has never seen.

BF said he didn't want to shoot any more!

My daughter (29) did about the same thing with my Model 19 2 1/2". I was being sort of condescending, reminding her how to align the sights. I had set up a couple of small pine cones on a log at about 10 yards. She knocked them off shooting double action with her first two shots. "Like that, you mean?"

She will have to make do with the no-lock 442 I bought her just a year ago. She ain't getting my 19.

I have a daughter that just turned 16. She is the same way...she is a natural at it. She is interested in taking Criminal Justice/Forensics in college...interesting career choice for a high school honor student. She may be carrying a gun professionally some day.

I've got a wife that can out shoot me most times.

That's us 35 years ago.

I remember letting my wife shoot my 4-inch heavy barreled Model 10 back when we were dating. She had never shot a handgun before. I put up a B-27 silhouette and stood her back about 7 yards and told her to aim for the vitals. Six shots later, all double action in a neat cluster right in the 10 ring. I just remember her turning around and looking at me afterwards saying "Is that good?"

My daughter is only 5, but I have this feeling that she will outshoot her brothers, and probably me as well (just like Mommy).

They are mostly like that, as soon as they learn what a sight picture is supposed to be.

Noticed that for the first time 54 years ago. Seems to be a stable phenomenon.

When my Wife and I were dating back about 23 years ago I took her to the range. Brought a 4" M15 S&W. I knew she had been in the Army, but figured, she's a girl, no way will she be a good shot. We set up some bowling pins on the table. First cylinder full she nailed 5 out of 6.
I always remember that when I make her mad.

I had a female CCW student that was being forced to take the class because her 'significant other' wanted her to. She was crying on her first shot with a 9mm being afraid of the gun. I switched her to my S&W K-22 and continued to work with her. She was a rather large girl with good upper body mass and strength. About half way thru the day she was shooting tiny little groups with the .22LR so switched her back to the S&W 3913 they had brought to the class. At the end of the class she was the most accurate shooter there. Not the fastest, but she was shooting by far the best groups. I told her that she had everything it took to be a shooting champion if she so chose. Her 'significant other' was not too excited having been thoroughly out shot. I frequent the coffee shop where she works and I remind her each time how good she could be as a competitive shooter. She tells me she hasn't fired another shot since the class because of maybe making her 'significant other' angry. ...... What a waste! ........... Big Cholla

A few years ago we had some friends over playing cards and one asked 'how old is you daughter now?" "15" I replied "Why?". "She's getting cute," He said "what are you going to do to keep the boys in line."

I pointed to a target on the refrigerator with the center neatly shot out and said "While they are waiting I'll show them that target as a conversation starter."

"You don't think you'll intimidate them with one of your old targets do you?" he scoffed. "That's not my target, that's HER target." I replied. She shoots with me twice a month and for a couple years now has taken kick boxing classes twice a week. Her brother and I are always here if she needs us of course, but anyone that crosses her is on for a surprise." :-D

My 23 year old is about to be named the youngest Clerk of the Court in the Federal system. She'll be 24 when it happens. She has CCW'd because defendants and their families view everyone in the court as an enemy and she walks 2 Detroit blocks to get to her car.

I took her and trained her using my Commander and then bought her the same. A week ago, we went to the range and she fired a new acquisition: a Model 40 Centennial, .38spl, ANIB made in 1975. She whiz-banged the targets and fell in love. Now her Commander stays home and my Model 40 is in her purse.

Oh well, she's a good girl...

I Know Walnutred's "Little Girl", she is cute and dangerous! The day after last Thanksgiving my wife and her sister come to the range after the husbands have been shooting for an hour or two, my sister-in-law pulls her M&P compact 9mm and shoots 3" group 2" low and 3" left at 18 to 20 YARDS. She is pissed, turns to her husband and says "Where are my zeros" [meaning X's], he replys "I don't know babe, you'll find 'em", she snags a second mag from the bench and rapid fires a 1", 10 Shot group dead center, smiles and starts in on homemade "Men" at 40 and 55 yards. I Believe in the Shooting gene", My Father-in-law was 2 time Police Combat national champion in the 60's, NRA Distinguished in .38 and 45ACP, my Brother-in law, Holds the Army Basic training record [298/300] since the early 80's, my two oldest sons were in the service and shot very vell, this sister-in-law's Daughter and son make really long deer shots into child's play, and the record holders boys are turning out to be really good Small Bore shooters. There are now 7 great grand kids [3 girls 4 boys] we are all waiting to see the "gene' surface. My money is on the girls if they choose to!

My two daughters started shooting very early with a pretty little 18-2 that I bought for woods carry/plinking. They both proved to be quick learners and enthusiastic shooters. I have since added a Ruger Mk. II. They are now grown adults with lives of their own yet, when they are able to return home for a visit, these are the two handguns they most prefer to shoot. Sadly both live in locals where, due to extremely restrictive ordinances, they are virtually precluded from owning handguns. Recently my youngest went with her fiancée and his parents to a cowboy action shoot. She was not the fastest shooter, but she hit every target without a miss. She was quite pleased. Her fiancée and her future in-laws were impressed, especially since they have been shooting cowboy action matches for a number of years.

Muddyboot.

She carried a nickle plated 2" Model 10, and I carried a Model 58.
We still have both of them.

Re the stash: Yeh I was a real ....uh.... hmm:confused:

Well I was real.;)

You can barely see it in the picture, but my most effective defensive tool was my tie tack.

My daughter is a 19 year old university student. I started her off with her chipmunk rifle when she was about 6. She learned all the elements of good shooting and we worked up to handguns and larger rifle calibers over the years. She is a great shooter now and her favorite gun is a Colt 1911 Government Model in .45 acp. She shoots that so well that I gave it to her. It stays in the safe but it is her's...They all will be her's someday, of course. She is also very good with her customized Browning HiPower and Colt .380 Pocketlite.

We went shooting with her guy friend a couple of days ago. He is new to shooting. I have told him that she is a good shot. She ran the target out to 50 feet(limit of the range) and then shot a perfect, ragged hole group in the center of the 10 ring with 7 rounds of .45 acp. He looked at me and I told him,"See what I mean? If you ever really piss her off, make sure she isn't armed or run fast and zigzag."...Of course, I was jesting with him(kind of)...

She shoots that 1911 and Browning better than I do. Young eyes and muscles contribute to that. I like to think my student has become better than the teacher. That is real success when teaching a skill in my book. I am proud of her skills and feel good that she doesn't ever have to be a victim. She is pretty good with her empty hand and edged weapons skills too. Her mother and I raised her to be a strong woman who doesn't have to fear any man.
