OK....I have a Gen III G34 where I took a complete factory G34 upper and joined it to a G22 frame. It works good.

I have been wanting a G17 but cannot justify having 2 9mm Glocks. These are/will be range toys.

I have been looking at buying a complete factory G17 upper but they are ridicously priced on the used market....meaning I can buy a NIB LE G17 cheaper with 3 mags.

I have a M&P 9 and like the size.

So my question....those with G17 or both G17 and G34.....will the G17 do everything the G34 will do in compeitio., range toy, home defense, etc?

I thought about trading my G34 complete upper for an equivalent G17 factory upper...just not sure.

Want to here from those who have both.

TIA

Range toy, and not duty gun or CCW piece - in that case I'd stick with what you have. That extra sight radius, at least for my eyes, makes a difference. BTW, I had a Horseshoe Leather holster made for my 34 and its every bit as comfortable and concealable as a 17.

G34 has an adjustable rear sight extended slide and magazine release.
G17 that I have is cutout for the porting on the barrel, so the slides both have openings on the top near the front sight.
The only advantage is a bit longer radius for sighting.
Kind of redundant to have both. But if I ever see a G17 Long Slide I'm going to add another Glock to the four I have. (G17c, G19, G26, G34)
