Glock 19x

Anyone have any thoughts on these?
I won one in a raffle. Glocks aren't really my thing, although I do appreciate the utility. We have a couple of 19s that do house duty.
This one looks a little "clunky." I'm deciding if I should just sell it new for max return, or hang onto it.

They are a really good gun. They are exactly the same thing as a Gen 5 Glock 19 but with the full length grip of a 17. I sold my Gen 4 19 and purchased a Glock 45 witch is the same gun in black because I have been trying to go to guns with ambi controls, since I am a lefty. I like the full length grip on mine better than the 19 now that I have gotten used to it.
I was never a Glock fan or even striker fired plastic gun fan for many years but now have several different ones. I put custom sights and a custom trigger in mine.

Well besides the color.... I love mine.

I found it kind of clunky too, but after I shot it - it works great. I like the full 17 grip over my second gen 19, and the short slide compared to the 17 makes it quick out the holster. The slightly extra capacity isn't a bad thing and doesn't impair concealment at all. No finger grooves on the grip is a huge plus for me, and it fits all my 19 holsters.

I suppose my only gripe after shooting it is buying a dozen extra magazines in coyote to make sure I don't mistakenly mix 19 mags that are too short. I'd have picked up the later model 45 in black which is similar, but I'm no fan of the forward slide serrations.

For me it's a keeper, and the color is slowly growing on me.

I never liked Glocks. But as a collector I always thought I should have one in the stable. When they first came out I saw one in the LGS's case and figured that would be the one I should get.

Five years now and not a single hiccup. Reasonably accurate. I think I'll keep it. I kinda like the color too.

Finally decided the 43x fits my hand better than the 19.
Got some 15 round Mags, satisfied with the 43x.

I still have a G19 3rd Gen that I bought just in case right before the last election. My only real gripe with the Glock family is the grip angle. If I close my eyes and present it the front sight is always about a half inch higher then the rear. I put together a couple of Polymer80 style builds that use a 1911 grip angle and these work perfectly for me. The sights automatically line up when I present. I will likely sell the G19 but I shoot the other two, which are G17 and G19 P80 clones, all the time. Especially since I picked up a Glock pattern AR9 pistol.

You could probably get a serialized Polymer 80 style frame from SCT Manufacturing or Grey Ghost Prescision for fairly cheap. Transfer all the parts from the 19X frame and I think uyou will be happy, especially if it is a home defense handgun and not for carry.

I'd sell it. I have one Glock (17.4) just because Glocks are common, but they're one of my least favorite firearms. I really don't see anything special about them or what they fo better than other options on the market. You already have Glocks, you're not really into them, so if I was you, I'd sell it. Put the money towards something better and nicer that you'll actually enjoy.

I am not a Glock fan either mainly because the are not very good CCW candidates IMO. The bulk, size and weight are what makes them that way. That said, they are extremely reliable, accurate and easy to shoot once you get used to their spongy triggers. They also hold a lot of beans!

Since you state you already have a few as house guns you can sell it to use the money for another purpose or of your choice. You are certainly not obligated to keep it.

I bought a Glock 19 Gen 4 back in 2016 in anticipation of Hilary Clinton being elected. Didn’t get Hilary but still own the 19, which, despite the unnatural grip angle and gritty trigger, I shoot very well. I’ve got about 4k rounds through it with never a hiccup. It serves as a home defense weapon and a backup if I ever had a problem with my Shield Plus for EDC.

I like my 19X very much. I have large hands, and the regular 19 is a bit short for me. I like that the bottom of the front grip strap doesn't have the small cutout so all the operaters can "rip out" a recalcitrant magazine, that's just another annoyance for my fingers when gripping the gun. I've never had a Glock magazine not fly out, but I'm sure other people have. If I haven't resolved whatever problem I might be having with 17 rounds, eh.

I have an El Paso Saddlery Tortilla holster for it, life is good.

I tried hard to like my G23 (grip angle) but gave up and took a beating in a swap for a 686.

I have one Glock-an early 19M built for the doj contract, the predecessor to the Gen 5 edition. As much as I like 1911s it’s hard not like this 19.

I tried a 19X a friend bought and for me the grip frame just didn’t feel right but the pistol is accurate and eats every type of ammo run through it.

To me, it is the worst of both worlds. At 5 foot 5 the only way I can hide anything is an inside the waistband holster, but the grip is the hardest part to hide. Longer barrel is no problem, they should have gone with the 19 grip and a 17 slide. My daily carry gun, once I retired the 1911 Gov't model 12-15 years ago, is a Glock 19 with a Trijicon RMR that I cut down to a Glock 26 grip frame. I can hide it under a t-shirt in the summer, wear a regular 19 frame on my TSD Upper when clothing allows. Here is the short frame vs the stock 19 frame. Easy to hide, easy to shoot. A longer grip is easy to shoot, but very hard to hide.

The 19X is, in my opinion, the best gun that Glock has ever made. It balances superbly and it benefits from the 5th generation improvements.

I've probably got somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000 rounds through mine. I occasionally clean it (meaning I pull a bore brush through it), and a few thousand rounds ago I put a new recoil spring in when it was clear that the old one was getting tired. Other than that I haven't done anything into it.

I don't run aftermarket **** in my Glocks ... about the only thing I've ever bought was an aftermarket (KKM) threaded barrel for my G34.

Run it. Enjoy it.

I started pistol shooting with a 1911. It felt good in my hand. In later years I bought a Ruger Mark 1 (and a Luger P08) and they worked well too. I truly can;t say which grip angle I like better.

When I bought the 19X I didn't even think about the grip. I just shot it, and shot it well.

So, that's my Winter project at my indoor range. One day I'll take all 3 and consciously evaluate which feels the best.

Yes, I used OEM Glock frame and slide parts on both builds.

Springfield made a long barrel, short grip XD in 45 a few years back. I nearly bought one at a CDNN fire-sale, but decided to go full size (5" barrel, 13 round mags) instead.
