Anyone sent their Glock slide in for a refinish? I was thinking back to Glock with new night sights but I'm open to suggestions. I've got so much wear on this guy it's starting to get surface rust.

Thank you in advance, Mike.

I guess it is worn. I haven't sent anything back in myself, but the people I've talked to that have all had good results.

The Tenifer treatment Glock does is supposed to go down into the pores to protect the metal. You must live near the coast to be getting rust.
Sending it back to Glock for refinish would probably be the least costly method.
For not much more you could have someone local Cerakote the slide.
I had a G19 that someone had polished to make the slide look like nickel.
I Cerakoted it silver, so it wasn't so shiny and had some corrosion protection.

My current Glock is a G48 (slimline 9mm). It came with the silver colored slide which I didn't mind at all, but I did it in FDE. What can I say, I just like FDE.

I did my .45 Shield in a darker FDE, "Smith and Wesson Tan", same color as the factory uses.

The Tenifer treatment has nothing to do with the black coating on the Glock. Tenifer is a metal treatment, Glock then adds the black coating onto the metal afterwards. That coating has changed throughout the years but it's not much different than what any company puts on their handguns. Even if you strip that coating off completely the metal shouldn't rust unless you've worn through beyond the depth the treatment penetrated into metal.

If you have that much wear on the slide the internals probably need looking at also. If you are near Smyrna it takes them about an hour to do a complete re-build. There is also a process to ship it. If you have any "non-Glock" parts always request that they be returned.

I have had two worked on and my son has had one. We had them done at Mod-1 Firearms by a former scoutleader friend. I dont know how to post a link but I have been in his shop and you can eat off the floor. He is a stickler for clean. I have had he do a cheap 22 rifle in cerekote so I can work with scouts teaching them how to shoot. His business name is Mod-1 Firearms. Also if you call or email you will get either his Wife or Him.
