On a different forum, there is discussion about Glow-On phosphorescent paint. I decided to give it a try. A 4.6ml vial cost me ~$15 shipped.

For the "night" picture, I exposed the paint to light for about 10 seconds using my flash light. The sights glowed and progressively dimmed for about 10 min. I'm sure if I increased the duration of exposure to light, the paint will glow longer.

IMO, not a bad option for me because my budget is a little tight. I've already equipped my M&P 9fs with a Streamlight TLR4 light/laser combo, and spending $$$ on night sights is lower on the priority list right now.

In the meantime, this paint will do the job nicely. I've also applied it to my other handguns. I'm tempted to try it on the front post sight on my AR15.

Therein lies the problem with Glow-On phosphorescent paint. It has to be charged to be effective. Will you have time to do that?

But how many of us live in a house with no lighting at night??

In my house, I have some light that comes thru the window and there is a light in the living room at the end of the hall opposite from the master bed room.
