Well just came home from Ducks unlimited. Due to Covid they cancelled the sponsors banquet. I got a phone call that the general banquet was tonight si I went with the Mrs. Paid my sponsors fee got a nice bag, a knife and my license plate (very important-I tack them up on the shed wall). Gave the knife away to the deputy who is the court bailiff and does security at the event. Bought the obligatory raffle tickets from the buxom lass wearing the short shorts and cowboy boots and enjoyed dinner with the wife and some close friends. Renewed acquaintances with some fellow banquet goers and settled in to the auction. "Won" a Bud light sign for the shed and settled in for the raffle. Missed out of the dog bed by one ticket for Angus:mad: Then they called my number and I won a Winchester SX4 Waterfowler :D
Suddenly, the angels sung, rainbows sprung and unicorns danced. Best part was that since I has a CCP, I was able to fill out the sheet and take it home tonight! I shall sleep with it and call it Thor god of thunder. Thereafter I will probably give it to my son along with the SXP that I won three years ago and still have not yet put together  Something about winning a gun, ANY gun in a raffle. :D:D:D
Life, for one brief moment is good indeed!

I thought it was Irishmen? I never won anything at DU, you did good!

Caj, you did better than I did. Attended a DU Banquet 2 weeks ago. Bought the raffle tickets, Yes, I too, won a gun. A little Diamondback D9.
Thought it looked familiar, yep, I donated it last year! Whoever won it then never claimed it. Oh well, goes back in the display case at the pawnshop.
Over the past 25+ years I have won several very nice DU guns. Maybe I didn't drink enough!

I had planned to attend the DU event in a neighboring county tomorrow night but with the huge increases in Covid cases here in NW Iowa I think I'll pass on that and just send them a donation.

Congrats to you Caj.... yep DU can be a fun event when yo win some good stuff....over the years I won the Terri Redlin "Lifetime Companions" framed print and a really nice BPS 20ga pump gun, as well as others over the years....ahhh to be young again and enjoy that special event that never was disappointing.

Only gun I've ever won was a blue Ruger Single Six 4-5/8".
A friend hit me up for a gun raffle ticket that ran for a month.
When I bought it I said to him the only gun on there I'd want was the Ruger. The rest were either hunting shotguns or rifles(I don't hunt anymore) or duplicates of guns I already had. A few weeks later I get a phone call from the friend saying I hit the ticket and he thinks its the gun I wanted. It was. Still haven't shot it.
