I have had more luck with with the federal 550. I had a whole bunch of mag snags with the winchester 333.

Sounds like you are shopping at Wal-Mart. If you calculate the prices, they set the price per round to be the same with any of the bulk packs they sell. Just something to keep in mind when looking for deals. Get the Fed 550.

My Wal-Mart was out of the Federal 550s when I went looking for my first ammo to use. I picked up the 333 pack of Winchesters and went to the range. I shot that entire box that afternoon without a single problem. Whichever brand you get, make sure that your rounds are staggered in the magazine correctly. I just didn't use the the loading assists buttons as instructed in this forum, and it loads just fine.

Have fun!

All i shot is the federal 550 value pack in my 15-22. For $15 a box you can't beat it.

I went through federal 550 yesterday and had 0 failures. Seems like my beast gets better with age.

just got federal 550 , not a blue box anymore, also plan to buy a box a week, also ordered a Holo sight today from my buddy

I only buy the Federal 550 or 375.. I save .004 per round on the 375 packs. I am limited to 6 boxes each day per group. I just ended up getting 2250 rounds for 75 bucks 2 days ago. it was all they had left of the fed.

AND the funny thing about walmart and buying ammo.
If you are 18+ you can buy .45ACP ammo. as long as they are for a rifle. lol

I've shot a box of Winchester 333 and several boxes of Federal 550. The price per round is about $0.04 for both, so price doesn't. I'm stocking up on Winchesters because I can pay less money for the smaller box without having to pay more per round. I've not seen a difference in quality.

CajunMouseSniper recommended Aguila Match Rifle. I tried 1k then bought another 5k. When combined with a Midway coupon, it's only about $10 more per 500 than Fed Bulk Pack. It is a bit dirty but performs quite well if you want to do paper shooting. It's rated at 1080 fps but I hear no sound barrier 'crack' as with high velocity such as Fed Bulk pack. It also works great in my .22 pistols.

I Had the opportunity to visit Liberty Suppressors in Trenton, GA last week. They make some nice .22 cans. I got to try their latest and greatest titanium can--The ESSENCE of Liberty (a mere $625 for a .22 can) Aguila Match Rifle worked great.

I hate even bringing this up since I know how it can cause issues but, considering all of the ammo talk that comes up, do you think it would be possible to come up with a sticky post regarding the topic? That way it would be pretty much the first thing that everyone sees and all related traffic would go to it rather than starting (does some quick math) like the 300th plus thread about it?

I'd even be more than happy to go thru some of the back posts, and re-type what is in the manual, and come up with something to PM to you for review. Thoughts?

What subject is there less than 300 threads? :D

*chuckle* You have a good point. Either way you're the leader so if it's no biggie I'll not worry about it just wished to put it out there since I do not recall anyone making the suggestion in the past several threads on the topic.

Okay.... if you'll post in this thread an exact copy of the 15-22
approved/not recommended ammo list i'll use it to start off a Sticky Ammo Thread for discussion of all things related to ammo.
We'll see how it works out.

Fed 550

OK I'am in wal-mart, I do not see any Fed 550.
Is this the part # or what. ?
I just looked on the Fed site & 550 was not listed , whats up with that ??

The red 550 pk is the Walmart special. You should see the blue 525 pk on other sites.
