Going to shoot my Model 41 finally.

A Weaver #62 rail is what S&W finally told me is what they used to determine mounting hole spacing but you can't find a #62 rail anywhere. Weaver/Bushnell advised that #62 is a wholesale identifier and won't work on the retail level - there you need to look for a #48062. I installed one after shortening it yesterday; it fits the curvature of the top of the slide and its mounting holes perfectly.

I shot my zombie match today. Only 8 shooters. My drop holster molle rig worked fine. Had 4 clean stages and a train wreck and a half on the other 2 stages. The train wreck was the first stage where I had to engage targets from a 'boat' [using my pistol] actually a pontoon platform with no railings floating in a homemade pond. Got on the boat but needed a steady hand to get off. Then 5 more targets through 2 windows standing in a box. A difficult contortion stage for an old dude. Over 100 seconds, I'm usually in the 40s. My half wreck was where the sunlight caught my red dot weird and was throwing a false image, I thought my battery was dying, so I used the false image and was a foot low with the M41 for 3 targets. Clean on that stage with the rifle. My rifle is deadly accurate but I'm still learning the red dot on my pistol. Was a warm day but we had a breeze. A fun shoot. Top score was 220, I was 411. Before next month I will run some ammo through the 41 and AR. John Z creates pretty good shoots.

Sounds like the gun itself performed well...?? nice to hear. I've heard a few guys complain about glare on reflex red dots, I have a Leupold Delta Point Pro and have never had such a problem - maybe it has a longer hood over the lens than your Burris. The only time I've ever had a slight problem was on a steel challenge comp' in the rain and a rain drop in the centre of the screen gave men about five dots to choose from (I ended up ignoring it altogether and shooting by instinct and did OK)

The Heretic

I might be the only M41 owner that shoots CCI Blazer in my guns. I'm on my third 5K case, ammo is more accurate than I am. In a bullseye match, I put a small drop/smear of oil on the top case before inserting the magazine. At a shooting range, I've tried shooting without the oil and after 10 rounds, problems begin.

During 22 LR matches, I have never had an alibi because of feeding / ejection problems. There have been 2 or 3 for failure to fire.

Been using federal 550 box .22's in both guns and have not had any ammo issues. 100% reliable. I have gotten burned from brass bouncing off walls and barricades and ending up in the crook of my arms. Gets your attention.

I have an issue similar to Model 15 4-ever.The safety on my Model 41bumps the top of my thumb and moves half-way between fire and safe with each shot. Finally, I put a folded piece of paper under the part touching the safety that is held down by a screw. This makes the Safety inoperative, but I was getting frustrated beyond belief, especially during Time and Rapid Fire stages in our local Bullseye matches.
