Hi. I bought some golden bullets a few months ago and the bullet was really loose is the case. i sent them back to remington and they gave me a refund, although they said it meets their specs. Well i bought another box since. 22lr is so hard to find. This box is better but still the bullet moves in the brass case. No other ammo i have does this. Any thoughts or feedback if i should shoot this stuff. i know without seeing it its a difficult judgment. thx

I've purchased ammo like this from time to time. I currently have some Winchester PPHP that the bullets will spin in the case. Surprisingly this seems to make no difference in the performance of the round. Though like you, it kind of bothers me that the bullet isn't held tightly in the case. Concidering the rounds in question are Rem. GB's, I'd just go ahead and shoot them. I can't think of anything that this would do to damage your rifle.

I have some GB from back in the 90s and they also do the same thing. However, the accuracy of them is almost on par with my Fiocchi at 25 yards. I wouldn't be to worried, and I think I read somewhere on this board that it's normal for them to do that. It's always bugged me too, but it doesn't seem to affect anything, and the bullet won't fall out of the casing if that's what you're worried about. Shoot on!

had a couple hundred of the golden bullets doing this to me too, but shot fine. some were bent, and one bullet actually fell out of the casing and spilled powder in the box(so be careful lol)

i attribute this to faster manufacturing (less quality control) to meet up with the insane demand as of lately.

Not a lot of powder in the charge, needs all the help it can get!

U mean these things. Yeah I keep buying them because they work for me. And every time I walk in the store there are several boxes staring at me.

last time I looked I had like 8 of those! would pick up a box everytime I went into the lgs or Big 5 out here.

They are like gold now.

Where do you live that you have boxes of 22 in stock? I am not a fan of these golden bullets, but at this point would buy them because they are out of all 22

How's the quality on these?I may order some.

That's what this whole thread is about. Some people have good luck with them and some don't. Personally, I haven't had any problems with them in either the 15-22 or P-22. (other than the random "dud" that happens every once in a while. With the 15-22 I just eject it and throw it in the dud round bucket at the range, on the P-22's I pull the trigger again and most of the time it fires, if not then into the bucket. This happens occasionally with every brand I've used. Doesn't bother me since I don't consider the 22LR a "personal defense weapon"

I used these in the 70 s and 80s and the quality seemed to drop way off in the early 90s(too many duds).I just ordered a brick.Ill see if my Rugers like em 😊

I notice the looseness too but my 15-22 eats them just like it does everything else.

While I hate to sound like an old-coot, I have to relate that when I started shooting back in the mid-1950's there were always some loose bullets in every box of .22 ammo I ever bought (usually from Monkey-Ward or Sears & Sawbuck). It was the same for shorts, longs and even the high-dollar stuff; Long Rifles. But once they were down the tube of that Springfield 87A they usually all went bang. Now if I have a round that won't pop in the 15-22 or one of my grandkid's autopistols, I save it for use in one of the .22 revolvers I have where the second-strike firing rate is very good. Loose bullets don't necessarily mean a dud!

Thanks for the info. I will give them a try. I'm new to firearms and only shot over 500 rds in my rifle, so i dont have the experience most of you have. Again thanks!

All of our guns have different tolerances, so they are all different when it comes to ammo. I personally havent had any problems with these in either my 15-22 or my model 190. So i buy them because they work and they are pretty available here in my town.

Now i have had some problems with CCI Mini Mag in the past. I seem to have gotten a brick that my 15-22 didnt like so well. But my model 190 on the other hand just gobbled them up. So it goes back to the weapon being picky and the manufacturer letting QC get out of hand.

Since them i've tried several other bricks of CCI mini mag and I havent had a single problem with them. So in the end.....You take a gamble even if u buy what others consider some of the best ammo.

I've gone through at least one box of them, maybe 2. I don't recall any problems, and they were one of the more accurate rounds that I've used. Use em up...you'll be fine.
