This weekend at NPCCC in Porter County, Indiana.

Classic Division with a 686 6" and Comp lll speedloaders. The 686 is chambered in 38 Spcl. Revolver is unmodified. No trigger work and front sight is a plain post.

I shoot USPSA in three divisions, just not revolver. If this works out maybe I'll try in USPSA too - after some trigger work and maybe get cut for moonclips. Moonclips would mean more gear though...

Cherryriver is running the match. Should be alot of fun.

I should probably bring an hourglass to time my stages. Don't want to run the batteries down on the timer. I've been practicing the reloads. Start slow and try to speed up a little each time.

Best of luck to you. My son and I both enjoy ICORE more than any other handgun competition, and we're not even die hard revolver shooters. I like it because I can be competitive, even if I slow down a little and go for accuracy. It seems like all the other games speed is king. I just can't shoot fast and accurate. For me it's one or the other, but not both.

Make sure you come back Sunday and let us know how you did.

The club I shoot at has some sort of action pistol shoot every other Sunday. ICORE is without a doubt my favorite. I use a unmodified M-64 (except for floresent orange paint on the front sight) and comp III speed loaders. The holster I use is my old service revolver HOYT break front.

I can't keep up time wise with those using moon clips but I bet I'm having just as much, if not more fun.

It just seems there isn't as much "spray and pray" in ICORE as there is in most of the other action type pistol shooting.

Not to mention my Model 64 doesn't throw my brass near as far as my Semi's.

Ienjoy shooting ICORE and steel challenge both with revolvers. For ICORE I use an old 586 no dash cutr for moonclips and for steel challenge either a S&W 627 or 625.

Hit factor in USPSA means you literally *can* miss fast enough to win. The time plus scoring in ICORE demands that you shoot A's. ICORE is my favorite game. I wish there were more matches around these parts...

What a great match! I had a blast. Had one meltdown on a field course. Only mananged to get 5 rounds in the cylinder. Instead of dumping that reload I went with 5 and totally screwed up the stage from that point on. I had really good hits-most of the time. After I had 4 C on one stage and the score keeper tallied up my time I got the picture fast. Our club will have three ICORE matches this year. The Wheelgunner Revenge Match is in Niles MI. Maybe I can make that one....

Glad you had a blast! Local IDPA matches typically have ~50 shooters and ICORE only just over 10. I try to make it when I can. I prefer it to IDPA as there's no gaming and whining going on. I did most of my ICORE shooting with a 3" M66 and last year got a 6" M19.

Hueycrew - Glad to hear that you enjoyed yourself. If you don't have at least 1 meltdown, you're not trying hard enough.

imashhoter2 - will you be heading to the New England regional. I believe it's in late May. Monson Mass.

My son and I talked about the wheelgunners revenge match, but I used up a good bit of my vacation, taking a cruise with the wife. Hopefully next year.

We shoot ICORE at Silver Creek Conservation Club. It's a blast. We usually have 7 or 8 stages, about 20 competitors. Lots of steel. Just a great way to enjoy a day of shooting.

I wish. Funds don't allow more than day trips for me. I'll shoot the two matches at Ontelaunee in New Tripoli, PA and the postal match. Hellertown has monthly matches, but they are an hour and a half away and hold their matches on a weekday evening. No way I can get there from work. Last year there was a big match in Albany that I was trying to get to, but the plans just fell apart.

On the up side, I have a couple of USPSA clubs nearby so I can hit them twice a month and USPSA round gun doesn't exactly suck. ;)

Monson is just across the NY border, about 4.5 to 5 hours from the Allentown area. OK it's a looooong day trip. My son and I will be at both Ontelaunee matches. Fortunately were close enough that we usually make the Hellertown match. Unfortunately most USPSA is an hour away.

Well then I'll see you at Ontelaunee on the 27th. I'm the fat guy wearing old school prescription safety glasses and the most faded, stained and worn out S&W baseball cap you've ever seen. :)

ICORE is great fun. C hits will surely bring your score down, but keep practicing and you will get all A's. Get a good fiber optic front sight for your gun, plain rear sights and that will help. If you reload make your ammo shoot just at the right power factor. A lot of people use full power loads and that will slow you down also. USPSA is good practice. Find a good gunsmith in your area that can do a good trigger job.

Wait till you shoot a match where a hit in the X-ring will lower your time by 1 second...A lot of people really slow down for those stages.

Next Match is June. I'll be practicing and going for the perfect reload and the X ring hit. I'm in the 130PF range right now. Good for USPSA and ICORE. Thanks for the replys. -huey
