How's it going men? I've been craving a 4" model 28 for some time now and haven't been able to locate one at any of the local shops. I was looking to trade a never fired Rem 700 in .300 Win mag that has been sitting around collecting dust. I went to a small fun show this morning that I have never been to before. I got there a half hour early and was one of the first people in line. As soon as I got through the door I started my usual grid pattern search looking for goodies. Right off the bat I found a nice nickel model 19 with a 6" bbl in damn near mint condition except that some @ss hat did a crappy polyurethane job on the grips. Not exactly what I was looking for but got excited when I looked at the sticker and it said "425 or best offer" I was very tempted and going against my better judgment I put it down and continued the search for the 28 all the while thinking to myself that it will be gone when I circle back. I went through the entire show and there were no 28's to be found. I made my way to the last table and saw a pistol case filled with old Colts I started looking around and Bingo a model 28!!! But it was a 6 inch bbl. I asked to have a look at it and it was clean and tight with a hint of holster wear at the muzzle and a 600$ price tag. So I offered up my Remington and the man obliged, YES!!! As I'm doing the paper work all I could think about was that pretty model 19 that I left behind so as soon as I was done I double timed it back to the table where it was only to find another guy fondling it. So I stood there listening to him go back and forth with the dealer about price. The guy offered him 385 out the door and he said no, just when I thought he was going to offer him 400$ he handed it back and said "I will be RIGHT back". I pounced on that thing like white on rice, and offered the dealer 400$ cash out the door and he said SOLD! The look on the other guys face was priceless! Anyway it was a good day at the gun show!!!

I need to date both of these revolvers can someone help me out?
Model 28-2 SN: S294XXX
Model 19-3 SN: 7K62XXX
Without further ado….

Good score!
What show was that?
I was at the one in Warminster earlier.
Heading to Allentown Rodeway show tomorrow.

Hmmm , I didn't see all that many interesting revolvers and fewer good deals.

I here ya. Small show, there wasn't a whole lot of anything there. I like the Oaks show the best. Allentown is a good size show. I still want a 4 inch... Hummm 3.5 model 27........ Lol

K31, looks like you still need dates on those two revolvers so here goes:

M28-2 1967-68 (most likely 1967)
M19-3 1975

Hope this helps.

It took 3 runs with aircraft stripper to get the poly off the 19 target grips! There was so much on them that the checkering was almost smooth. There looking much much better now, now sitting out to dry.

Looks like the "S" prefix dates the 28 from 1961 to 1968. Can anyone pinpoint it?

Need a date on the 19 too.

I'm thinking 1975ish for the 19? This 19 also has all the target features.
