Been around for a while lurking, finally decided to register. I am a retired Air Force LC, whose speciality was combat rescue/special ops. I enjoyed my Air Force time, but then I went to work for the state and hated every minute of the woke Employment Security department. My association with S&W started when I was stationed in Columbus MS, and I bought a model 18 from a pawn shop outside the base. Due to my stupidity and youth, I later traded it for a Browning HiPower (which I have regretted continually since). I retired in Spokane, because of my wife, and since then I have purchased a 625-5 special edition in 45 lc, which will go to my grave with me. Then I picked up a 457 that is much more accurate that I can shoot. finally, my little brother gave me a M&P 2.0 10 mm, which I have not fully explored yet. That was halted when I was diagnosed with cancer, which I am still fighting. Since the cancer I have is one that eats away bone, the orthopedic surgeon said no stress on my ams. As I add years, I have come around to preferring old cartridges, so I am very happy with the 45 LC. I see a winchester 92 in 45LC, another model 18, and some form of a shield for EDC. I am a relative newbie to all things Smith, so please bear with me if I ask stupid questions.

I have a Governor loaded with 410 and 45lc as my bedside peacekeeper. I was pleasantly surprised the first time I shot the Gov with 45lc. Definitely a keeper.

What does the Ortho doc say about shooting?

First of all, good luck with your treatments.

Yes, a .22 is the perfect caliber for those with medical issues for shooting. While the revolvers offer excellent offerings, allow me to also suggest a semi as well, not instead of.

I have a Model 41, which is Smith's priciest .22 semi. Thankfully, there's more affordable offerings. My preference is the target model of the 22A-1 line. The target grips make it feel like a second skin, IMO. Another one of the current SW22 Victory model. I would not recommend the 422/622 series as they feel cheap to me.

She does not want me shooting since the cancer ate away the bones in my forearms. The cancer is a blood cancer and it has been eating away at my right arm ulna for quite sopme time, but, with treatment, is slowly building back. it is somewhat fragile at this time, which is why she does not want me shooting, or lifting anything over 3 pounds for that matter. I will get there, it just takes time. Thank you all for the kind thoughts.

Interesting that your association with S & W started in Columbus, MS.
I am familar with Columbus because the "W" is located there, and it was around 20 miles from the Mississippi State campus in Starkville - had a few dates wth "W" girls. Welcome from down south in Mississippi.

Welcome to the Forum! I'm up north of you a bit, into Pend Oreille County. Lots of USAF retired in and around Spokane.

It's getting much tougher to be a collector here, no doubt. I'm fortunate I picked up some of the now-proscribed models and have little need for another doublestack 9mm, .40, or AR/AK type gun. Hunting for rare and unusual S&W revolvers is (for now) permitted by our elected overlords.
