Good gun shops around Gettysburg Pa?

Trops Gun Shop in Elizabethtown, looks to be about an hour from Gettysburg. I'm in Harrisburg. I go there a lot for the indoor range. They send out a weekly email with their used gun list.

W. E. Sell Sporting Goods in Hanover, PA. Go straight east from Gettysburg on PA Route 116 about 16 miles. Been in business for decades, good friendly people, the quintessential local sporting goods store.

I was in Gettysburg in 1992 and locked my keys in my rental car. Waiting for the locksmith, I wandered into an Army-Navy Surplus store. (Do they still exist?) Bought a nice WWII Japanese bayonet for $50, but left on the wall what I think was a Kentucky Rifle, looking in good condition, for $700...

(Hmm. Surplus from the War if 1812, perhaps?)

A bit west of Gettysburg (50 mi or so, I'm guessing) is Bedford, PA which has Cove Creek Outfitters. A pretty classy gun shop with lots of things to spend big money on. Area around that town also has an Omni Inn and Jon Bennett Tavern which are also worth checking out. -S2

Reddings Hardware and Gun shop is on South Franklin Street, near the hospital. The Gettysburg Trading Post is just east of town on US Rt 30. The Regimental Quartermaster is a small shop with a good selection of reproduction and original Civil war era guns and accouterments and is on Steinwehr Ave, at the south end of town, right near the battlefield.
There is also an excellent auction house north of town on Table Rock Road that regularly holds big gun auctions. Look for the Redding Auction website to find when their sales are. Don't know if they are associated with the gun shop. You will find lots of pictures of the guns and related items of each upcoming sale. They are great to work with and can ship out of state to your FFL if needed.

+1 on Reddings...

The Walking Quail is no longer in business.
One of the best places to find lots of high quality firearms in south central Pa would be Shumans Gun shop in Newville, It is about an hours drive north from Gettysburg, and 20 minutes west of Carlisle on Pa rt 641. Alternately, if going on I81 between Carlisle and Shippensburg, get off at the exit for Pa rt 233 and head north. You will not be disappointed with their collection.
Another point of interest would be Fort Chambers Gun shop right off the Scotland exit of I 81. It's a small shop that specializes in black powder guns. There is always a small selection of beautifully made custom flintlock long rifles on hand along with a variety of modern reproduction guns. Plus everything you need to make and shoot one of you own. Lock stock and barrel. A couple miles down the road from Fort Chambers, towards South mountain, is the
Conococheague Trade Co, a small shop that is packed with all sorts of goodies.

Looks like I will be at Gettysburg in early September. Which airport has the easiest access to Gettysburg, BWI or Dulles?? Timewise they look about the same. Which is simpler to find your way there?

If you can find a flight HBG (Harrisburg) is the closest. 2 exits West on the PA Tpke then 30+ miles South on Route 15 to Rte 30. Otherwise you are "doomed" to 95 and its "offspring!" Dave_n

Duffys in Sparks MD, about an hour, Good selection of Black Guns, CZ's, and class III stuff, plus a pretty healthy collection of C&R handguns like Lugers, Hi Powers, maks and the like. Will deal when paying cash. Take a look at there Gunbrokers stuff, not for sale in store but you can look at them in person if you give them a heads up before you go.

+1 on Harrisburg, then Definitely BWI.

I-195 West to I-95 north, to I- 695 North. West on I-70 to Frederick, then north on MD/PA 15 into Gettysburg. Figure about 1 1/2 hours. All dual lane or more. There are several other routes, but lots of single lane roads involved.

From Dulles you either have DC traffic or lots a of single lane roads.

I live right on the most direct way to Gettysburg and commuted to the Baltimore area for years. From I-695 keep going to I-795 and run it all the way to MD Route 140 toward Westminster. Take 140 through the "Golden Mile" commercial area and get onto the ramp for MD Route 97 just past the Roy Rogers and Exxon Station. MD Route 97 becomes PA Route 97 at the Mason-Dixon line and goes through Littlestown and directly into downtown Gettysburg. All pretty well marked and 4 lane traffic for most of the route.
