Shield 9mm. Bought a cheapo ankle holster with calf brace. I wear Jeans, regular, straight leg most times. The holster I bought when on, looks like I have a baseball stuck under my jeans at my ankle.
Was looking today at The Ankle Deputy TM.
Seems to be pretty good. Around $42.

Any suggestions?
Thanks Folks

Smaller gun?
IM(not-so-humble)O, The only pants that'll hide a gun that size are sailor's bell bottoms. :D
Seriously, I'm sure there are plenty of die-hard ankle fans that will contradict me (and I hope they do, especially if they've ankled a Shield) but you're really running up against the limits here. I tried to like an ankle holster for the PPK and couldn't even get that to work, and that was with baggy PD uniform pants. Same with a J-frame, but that was more due to circulation issues from needing to make it tight enough to not flop around.
If the ankle is your sole option because of work, etc., I respect that. Other than changing your wardrobe I suggest a gun that's either a 9 with a shorter grip or a J-frame. A .380 is easy to carry down there if it's a lightweight, too. I have a Kahr CW380 that I pocket carry all the time, and it would probably be perfect down there.
Best of luck!

I use to wear an ankle holster when doing mobile surveillance. I was able to hide a G23 with baggies jeans or cargo pants. That holster was made by Aqusport which is a Aussie company running out of Queensland. While sitting in a vehicle, it was easier to get my gun out than had I been wearing it on my hip. Thankfully it never got to a stage where a firearm was required as we would always "relinquish before being burnt".

I have read about the Galco Ankle Glove being the best ankle holster out there. I think from memory, Clint SMITH uses one for his Pug Nose 327.

i'll second the Galco ankle glove. i have 2 of them. 1 for J frame and other for Kahr PM9. i do not ankle carry anymore.

Galco ankle glove! I have worn out one am on my second in over 20 years of carrying a 638 on my ankle .

Additional +1 for the ankle glove. J frame, 3913, Star Firestar M40 & G27. Always used the garter to help stabilze the gun and keep it off my ankle bone. Wore a white support hose under the holster and black uniform socks over the gun/holster. 25+ years of use, never had the gun or holster come loose.

Have used either Galco or De Santis with success for nearly 45 years. Only used J frames, as anything else was too big. Started with a Chief Special, and then went to an air-weight, and finally to the air-light (pre-lock 342) and that worked best of all. The weight on your ankle works as a pendulum when you are moving and a heavy gun feels like a ball-and-chain after all day wear.

And I use to wear one of the Galco type ankle safes on the other leg with my OC Spray, handcuffs, and spare mag.

Try boot cut jeans. Seems the problem is your pants not your holster.

I ankle carry either a G43 or LCR and also recommend Galco.

Galco makes the best, but ankle is rarely the best choice, or even second best for that matter imo.
