I was browsing at the San Antonio Durys Guns shop located on Loop 410 Friday. I mentioned my dismay to the man behind the counter that they had closed their gun shop at their previous location on Hot Wells, located on the cities south side. I told him, that as a young grasshopper I would browse and spend hours there wishing I had the money to buy anything.

The employee said good news would be out this last weekend that the southside location would open June 27th, barring any delay in final construction. This is great news to all gun owners who hated to drive to the other side of town. Plus the majority of the employees lived on the south side.
Apparently, there was a large population of their customers who voted with their feet by not going to new store, or like me, expressed my displeasure with them moving!!

I had that same discussion with the owners several months back. They had offered it for sale, but had one or more buyers back out due to access issues with TXDot. They did sell the ex-bank drive-through property across the street - it was originally intended to be an indoor range.

I for one am glad to see the original location open again as it is closer to me. The new shop is a show place....maybe they will bring the old location up to that standard.

Just a quick update, I finally made it to the shop on Hot Wells and it was great!!
Dury's has all of their guns that are for auction on gunbroker at this location. You can actually handle the guns or other items and check them out. You can't bid at the store with their computer, but the gentleman said you can get your smartphone out!!
Also they have a wide assortment of other items so save some gas and visit them instead of driving all the way across San Antonio to the north side location.

Got the same issue here. Most of the neat little "old time" gun stores are in Henderson )if they're still open), a 20+ miles trip across town at the best of times, and a thorough grind while they are rebuilding the elevated section of US 95/I-515.
