No, I'm not leaving the Forum. Today I had my annual appointment with the retina specialist I have been seeing since I had the retinal hemorrhage in my right eye 3 1/2 years ago. I've mentioned before how I was having floaters that looked like the patches on a Holstein cow, and how I had to train myself to sight with my left eye for handgun shooting. Today, after my examination, the retina doctor said that I had made a great recovery and that he would tell my regular eye doctor that I would no longer need to consult with a retina specialist. And with that, he shook my hand and wished me well.

Good for you!

The Mrs had two retinal tears in the same eye after slipping on ice and hitting her head last winter. She described one of the black blobs (blood) as the Loc Ness Monster. It's cleared up after laser cauterizing, but she still has floaters. At least she can see well out of both eyes.

She needs to go back for a checkup in February, but it appears she's out of the woods. I had no idea this was a common thing, but I found out a neighbors wife had the same issue and the retinal specialists office is always full.

The technology to repair eyes today is simply amazing. Thirty years ago, most of these patients would have lost eyesight.

Excellent!!!! Eyes are nothing to fool around with. Always be careful. At the age of 13 I had an unfortunate incident with an Exacto knife (like a scalpel) and have been blind in my left eye for the past 56 years. That's what I get for not wearing my glasses. In most cases once sight is lost it can never be returned. I learned the hard way. That could be the reason for me being a terrible shot. That's life. I'm glad that your sight is back working properly for you. Take good care of your eyes.

That sends a chill up my spine just reading about it!

Last year in right eye I thought there was millions of bugs flying around needless to say partial tear. Floaters!!! It eventually repaired. 2 weeks ago I wake up and in left eye I see quick flashes of light back to eye Dr, yup same thing! He states fluid in eye as we age dries and causes minor tears. I go back in a few weeks for recheck. There are still occasional flashes but room has to be dark, maybe its still happening just not dark enough??
