If you like eating wild geese, come to Ohio in September, We have a special season for non-migrating Canadas! Normal rules on the gun and ammo, and a 3 a day limit (Last time I hunted them.)

They are delicious, but the breasts are the only thing worth the time to prepare. I just skin the breast area, carved the two breasts out, pour in a 1/4 of cheap Italian Salad Dressing, burp the air out of the baggie and freeze. When you pull out a baggie, the meat gets marinated as it thaws. For us then it's grill and serve!

A cardboard box in the freezer would keep all the frozen breasts, rabbits, and squirrels organized.

Hot Goose slices with rice pilaf for an evening meal, with a rose wine. Grilled and sliced sandwiches for lunch (served hot or cold) I like mine with brown mustard and Horse radish! (I like mine with the darkest beer I can find at hand!)

I like that idea of vacuum packing the breasts and freezing with the marinade. Haven’t shoot a goose in years but I get a spring turkey every year.
I will try your method this year. Great tip, thanks.

Last time I looked, the Snow Geese are gone.
Canadians still here.
One side of the Geese V shorter?
I always thought they put all the smaller Geesers over there.

I think you could pack a cinder block this way and serve it for Thanksgiving Dinner and everyone would say “that is the best turkey we ever ‘et!

I use to hunt Canada geese all the time.

I still have 3 dozen field decoy's and 6 floater's.

I use to hunt private property that had a 400x 800 yard corn and alfalfa field on over 300 acre's and a 20 acre pond next door.

I put in a pit blind in the middle of the field right on the crest of the field.

It was a lot of fun calling and flagging them to the decoy's but the rule's all changed to only allow 1 bird a day for the migrating bird's so it was not worth all the work.
I'm not sure what the rule's are anymore as I have not hunted in about ten years.

Every now and then I would take a big honker and Pick the feathers off of it.
Yes, you heard me correctly, I would gut it, trim the wing area and cut the feet off and the neck & head, and pick the darn thing, feathers and pinfeathers andhave a nice hunk of meat for the oven, for a rare special, ocassion.

Lots of hard work but it keeps all the juices in the meat if not over cooked and you let it rest at least 20 minutes, before carving.

Here’s Snow Geese hanging with Sandhill Cranes.
Down at a State Game Preserve.

Watching one of the huge flocks (Of just about any bird) Take flight from a lake first thing in the morning, is one of the most beautiful things you can witness in life!

One of the first nursery rhymes mom taught me:

"Goosey goosey gander,
Whither shall I wander?
Upstairs and downstairs
And in my lady’s chamber.
There I met an old man
Who wouldn’t say his prayers,
So I took him by his left leg
And threw him down the stairs,"

I asked what it meant and she said: "say your prayers."

Kinda eye opening for a three year old.
