New to me at least - Mod 29-3, blue, 6" barrel, .44 Mag, SN AUD48XX. A Thing of beauty.
Can anyone tell me the date of manufacture??

Also I keep hearing about "Smith and Wesson Letters". I'm a newbie here - what does that mean? Will Smith send me a letter telling me info about my gun(s)? How do I go about that?
Cost?

The letters cost $50. You should be able to download the form from Smith's website, or the SWCA site. The more info you can give, including pics, the better, but I think that request mainly applies to guns that are off the beaten path. There is not much to tell about ordinary production guns, unless you happen to win the lottery and luck on to a gun that was shipped to a famous person or organization. If you call S&W, they will probably tell you when the gun was shipped.

A 29-3 is a nice gun, but very few people would bother spending the time and money to letter one....unless you REALLY, REALLY need to know where S&W originally shipped it to.

THANK YOU THANK YOU - for the dates.

As far as the "Letters" I was thinking about asking for a letter on my 38/200.

Have a great day.

Steve

I just picked up this 29-3 today. It's about 25 years old and looks brand new.
