Hi everyone. Im brand new here. About 20 years ago i sold my SW Model 27-3 to my fathers friend with the agreement i get first refusal of it if he were to ever sell it. Well i got the call three weeks ago and i got my beloved .357 back!!! Im so pumped. It has the 5" barrel and i have the spare 3 1/2" barrel that i got with it when i got it from a friends grandfather and also a set of pacmyer grips. I sold it so i could buy a SW Sigma in .40 and i knew i messed up after i shot it. I sold that and got into Glocks. I even got the same box of bullets i gave him lol. Its still in mint condition. How do you measure the barrel? Is it from the cylinder to the end of the barrel? And the best part is i got it back for what i sold it for😀

Proper way to measure a barrel on a revolver is from the front of the cylinder to the front of the barrel. ;)

BTW: Welcome to the forum!

A story w/a happy ending. I've been looking for my service revolver, used in a 1974 gunfight, ever since then. I suspect it was traded on a shipment of new S&W but agency records do not go back that far. If you happen upon it please send me a PM. It's a Colt Detective Special, serial # 689642.

LOL!!!!! :D

Glad your story has a happy ending. :) I wish I could get back some of the guns that I sold back in the early 80's... although I probably couldn't afford them now! :p

Recently, I sold a WASR-10... right before our anti-2A MA AG lady banned all ARs & AKs... and the grandfathered ones in state instantly tripled in value!

No, my timing never was any good.

Thanks guys. Im happy to be here and be part of this team. And also happy to finally have a revolver let alone my very first one! I also got a Colt Frontier Scout .22 from the original owner of my SW. I shot my 27 a week ago and i cant wait to shoot it again. It has the 5" barrel and it also has a short barrel too. Is that something worth trying on the gun or not? And once again i feel very welcome here and someday hope to get a Model 29 when money allows
