That was not the .45 ACP I was expecting.

Did you pick that up at a LGS or at the Oaks show this weekend?

That is a great firearm. Six months prior to retirement I was issued a new 4506. It went to the range once, so it had 50 rounds through it. When I retired, according to our contract, we were given our service weapon. I had another new one in my safe, sold it and kept my service weapon. Prior to that we had 645's.

"Lounge Lizard Extraordinaire" is starting to come into focus now:D

I started off with the signature "Lounge Lizard Ordinaire", but after much consideration, I decided to award myself the rank of "Lounge Lizard Extraordinaire"...as the saying goes, its kind of a big deal.:D

Good choice, in fact my favorite.

I think you'll find it a very versatile pistol.

I've even been known to CC one ...... actually easy to do with the proper belt and holster.

Already have one. I have a 4566 and had a 1006 that I carried.

Very nice! Congrats Arik! :) Regards 18DAI

Awesome pick up. I'm sure you will learn to love yours as much as I love mine!

I bought a 4506 no dash with the really dumb intention of selling it! After taking it to the range I immediately knew I better not get rid of this. I take it to the range about once each week and every week my groups just keep getting better. Also, I was fortunate to buy two extra mags from a forum member for $25 each.

BTW Arik, those are really nice impromptu pics.

Thanks! Cell phone camera takes great pics in natural light but as soon as you step inside and have the yellowish glow from lamps the photos start looking like they were taken with a camera phone from 1999. All grainy and pixilated. ...just bleh

No intention of selling it..... deliberately. :D

These are two of the things I especially like about this pistol. It is double action first shot, subsequent shots are single action. If a bad guy is trying to get this pistol away from you, press the magazine button and drop the magazine, even if loaded chamber, it will not fire without the magazine.

To me that feature is a double edge sword. In the one hand it is like you say. On the other hand if you're in a panic and don't get the mag in hard enough your loaded chamber is useless. Same goes if you leave the chamber loaded while doing a reload it's also useless. At least the last 2 versions allow you one shot should you need it while reloading.

I can see both sides and don't really have a problem with either although I do prefer the lack of this safety. I have a 5946 without, this 4506 and a 4566 with and a 1026 on the way without the safety.

Anything like this is good or bad depending on what happens. We have trained over and over to slam that magazine in hard. I like it, but I do see your point.
