Got my letter! .22 Single Shot Model of 91

I received my letter from Mr. Jinks this week for my Model of 1891 Single Shot! He says:
"We have researched your .22 Single Shot First Model, caliber .22 Long Rifle, in company records which indicate that your handgun, with serial number 13,4XX, was shipped from our factory on March 21, 1893, and delivered to Markt & Co., New York City, NY and Hamburg, Germany,. The records indicate that this handgun was shipped with a 8 inch barrel, blue finish, and checkered balck hard rubber extension target grips."

Nice lookin gun with some interresting history. How does it shoot? Do you have to use std vel in it? Larry

The bore isn't great but it does shoot accurately. The mainspring is weak and I've had quite a few FTF. I have only shot the subsonic velocity ammo in it and it seems to group okay. I will post some results when I get the mainspring replaced. I found one from a gentleman out of Louisianna and hope to get it soon. Other than that all the mechanicals work fine. I'm also on the lookout for an original latch as it seems someone replaced it with a later model latch.

Nice looking gun. I wish I had a shooter of that era. Seeing pictures like that will probably make me find one someday, somehow.

Off topic: How long did it take for letter to arrive from time you sent the request? I just sent one to Mr. Jinks on Friday.

I sent off for the letter on Feb 4 and received it around April 7 so about 8 weeks which is about average from my experience. Regards, Chef
