I finally got my new Shield 45. I Took it out yesterday and put about 100 rounds of various ammo through it with out any problems. If you were wondering how much velocity you lose with a 3.3 inch barrel. I clocked 2 factory loads over the chronograph.

Federal American Eagle, 230 gr FMJ, 775.63 FPS (10 shot Average)
Federal Tactical HST, 230 gr HST HP, 818.86 FPS (10 shot average)

Hopefully I'll be shooting one tomorrow. My range has one in rentals but none for sale. My other LGS has 5 or 6 for sale at $449. Not a ridiculous price, although I'm sure I could get one a little cheaper by waiting a while.

If you are sure you want one, you'd better get one of those! A bird in the hand is worth .......? They are very scarce on the ground. You are not likely to get one for much less than that unless you are willing to wait until the market gets kinda saturated with them and dealers are able to get one any time they want one. Based on my experience with mine, I can't imagine why you wouldn't want one and like it after you got it. But then, we are all different and like different things! I surely do like mine!

The Mags were stiff, but they got a little better after use. I use an uplula and I managed to get them loaded.

Yes, they will get easier to load with use, even after leaving them loaded for two or three days when new. Everything about the gun will get better with use. The first 3 to 5 hundred rounds will smooth things up and get those springs to about the same consistency until you shoot it enough to result in need for replacement. Doing so will cost you quite a bit of money for ammo!
