Got to be Quick to get a Shield

Got a E-Mail from Buds at 9:12 this morning that they had 9mm Shields. I read the mail at 9:20 and went on line to grab one but they were gone. Bud had 40mm Shields last week. I passed on that but they were gone in 3 hours. Guess I should have went with the 40 if I wanted a Shield of any kind.

Buds probably sent that email to over 1000 people and (probably) actually only had 1 or 2 to begin with.

In over 5 Yrs, Bud's has NEVER had anything I was looking for in stock.

I stumbled upon my 9mm Shield on Gallery of Guns one night at 9:30PM (I actually was watching the show on TV and they said "in stock now" and I figured it was BS since the show was recorded ahead of time - but it was probably a fluke) - and ordered it immediately. By the time my order was done (45 seconds to a minute) - they were down to 3 (from 21 in stock).

Ordered on a Monday night at 9:30PM - was at my LGS Wednesday at 10AM and picked up at 1PM. Love the Gallery of Guns turnaround.

I got my Shield 40 from Bud's Police a couple months ago. As soon as my order was confirmed, I went back to the page and the gun was listed as Out of Stock. I have not seen 40s or 9s in stock since. Don't give up, the $335 price is a heck of a deal and worth waiting for.

I've yet to not see a shield in stock at the LGS, I'm puzzled but the lack of supply in some locations.

Low demand in your area, price is too high, or maybe the LGS owner regularly sends his distributor a case of beer.

I ordered my Shield 9mm on July 24th from Bud's Police Supply and just like Dragon88, they were 'Out of Stock' a couple of minutes later. I got lucky.

OP: In all honesty, shields are not that difficult to get ahold of. There are a few things to consider:

1) how much work are you willing to put into finding one? I spent many hours over several weeks calling different shops until I found one
2) are you willing to pay to have it shipped and transferred to you?

If you're sitting by and waiting for one of the largest online retailers to get them in and email you (among probably 2,000 others), you will miss out. Same goes for casually checking your LGS. It's all dependent on how bad you want it and how much time you're willing to put in. That being said, good luck, the gun is well worth it IMO!

exactly, since they are the same gun. why sell them at the police discounted price when you can sell them for full MSRP or more!

Boy Howdy...I bet a 40mm Shield would kick a tad bit more than a 9mm...and probably would be a bit painful as well!!

I can understand why the are so popular. It's worth the wait. I stumbled into my 9mm Shield last May. I wasn't even looking to buy a gun that day.....I walked into the LGS asked if they had any Shields. The owner said they were "all out". I said "too bad I got all this money burning a hole in my pocket" his counter guy had JUST put a Shield in the display. After opening my mouth, I had to take it or never show my face again. Anyway, I am very happy I bought it. It wasn't without issue....it went back to S&W for repair but all is good now. I paired it with a Cross Breed Super Tuck and it is absolutely my favorite carry gun. Kinda feel bad for my G26...it just sits there now.

As near as I can tell, second-hand Shields are selling for $525 on ksl.com!

Not even close to painful, in fact after having a CM40 for a short time, it was a joy to shoot the shield. CM40 would tear the skin off my trigger finger within 100 rounds... Shield had a very manageable recoil.
