Snubbyfan, are you in the area of West Virginia where a chemical spill has made the water unusable except for flushing toilets? Anybody else here in the affected zone?

Sounds really grim.

I'm in affected zone. And it's been a nightmare to say the least. Worst part is our water lines froze and we fixed them, then 2 days later the water gets contaminated and I woke this am to another water leak. Nothing like playing in contaminated water, but the flushing must go on.

We're way up in the Eastern Panhandle and our water comes from the upper end of the Potomac. We have our own little water treatment plant in town and our water's fine. I've been following the contamination of the Kent river and I hope everyone in the affected area's doin' ok and the chemical levels drop to an acceptable range soon.

Y'all just need a nice big rainstorm. It'll flush it out and downstream to us. Hopefully with enough extra water to dilute it. When these slugs come washing down, the local waterworks just shuts its intake and supplys water from storage and replenishes from wells. They're saying we don't have anything to worry about when it gets here.

A few years ago we had a slug come out of a collapsed coal mine up the Big Sandy. With high water it was here and gone in a couple of days. Where's Doublesharp in all this. He sits on the banks of the river, too. Remember the saying "flush the toilet, Louisville needs the water".

We had lots of water yesterday & today. All fell from the sky. Thunder & lightning last evening. Lightning bolt hit a tree near my rental house & caught fire. Also broke 2 windows in their house. Fire department on the job quickly. No damage to my rental, Thank God. Way over an inch in my rain gauge so far & more on the way.

We been making it fairly good, had lots of water stored anyway. Had the problems mentioned but now just waiting on word to start washing cloths and bodies again.

Tired of spending half a paycheck on water and supplies. If it was summer I wouldn't care, we have a camper and would head for a campground but its way to cold for that right now.
