Was looking through the mail and the nra sent me a letter with with a discounted offer on membership pricing, about 30 dollars for a year membership didn't seem like a bad deal. My question is I never gave the nra my address how'd they know?

Good reduced price for yearly membership. If you own a gun, membership in the oldest civil rights organization is defending your rights on the second amendment. They need all the support we can provide and nearly 5,000,000 members is a lot of votes. Also, the $2500.00 gun insurance is part of the membership. At some point, you may want to become a life member and payment plans are available and affordable. Become a member and join the fight.

You filled out something related to guns? Maybe at a store? Get any gun literature?

I couldn't see my lgs running my address to other places. But I won't rule out the option.

I've honestly thought very hard about the life membership. I've determined when the money comes around I'm on board, in the mean time I'll keep to the yearly.

I joined for life when I was 18. (1962) I've upgraded three times since. I've never been sorry. If everyone who owned a gun was a member, imagine how much more effective they could be.

For one thing, it's money and name lists are something people will pay for. Also, I'll bet you didn't tell him specifically that you DIDN'T want follow up calls, emails, mailings and the like, did you?:D:D:D:D

In the information age your name, address and phone number are everywhere. Marketers mine this information for new customers all the time.

In the old days I used to man the NRA table at our local gun shows and try to sell new memberships like a carnival barker. I'm sure I was no more or less annoying than an e mail or phone call. In order to talk the talk and walk the walk I became a life member. I have since made the move to Endowment, then Patron and now Benefactor.

I signed up a lot of new members and was always proud to be asked to do it.

Before they raised their rates last February, I took advantage of the 5 years for $100 offer they sent me in the mail. Also selected the digital version of the magazine to save them the cost of printing and mailing.

The NRA may be the only thing between us and losing our firearms. All firearms owners should join the NRA and support the cause.

Honestly I wish I had done it much sooner. At this point life member is next on my nra to do list, if you will.

I've always believed every gun owner should be an NRA member. I also wish more gun manufacturers would follow the lead of Taurus and give a 1 yr NRA membership with a new gun purchase.

I'd of loved to do that. I've got a loud voice that carries, too bad it's mainly email and phone calls anymore.

I remember when a friend of mine went to his town police dept to apply for his CCW, the chief asked him if he was a member of the NRA, he said no, the chief said come back when you join. :)
