GP100 3"

Just picked up this Ruger GP100. This 3" version was built in 1988 and has one sweet trigger in both SA and DA, almost S&W quality. I seem to get rid of Rugers after a while though I still lament the day I sold a 2.75" Security Six but I think this one will stay. Found an old set Of Uncle Mike"s grips from a previous Ruger adventure and replaced the rubber ones with the wood inserts. They really fit my hand well as they are just a tad longer.

I'm glad the grips fit your particular frame. Uncle Mike's won't fit my GP. Pachmayr Grippers did, thank goodness, and it shoots very well indeed. Mine has a four-inch barrel and adj. sights. I like it very much.

3" medium-frame revolvers just seem balanced to me. I'd like to get a 3" GP100 with fixed sights like yours. IIRC, they were standard issue with the US Marshals Service before they went to semi-autos.

My 3" GP100 is the recent Wiley Clapp 357, but the mirror image 10mm version is quite tempting. I love this gun, but after changing springs have had some light strikes. I need to sand the hammer down and start carrying it some.

I have settled on the 3" fixed sight .357 GP-100 as my EDC (Every Day Carry). Mine shoots good with cast lead or jacketed ammo, sights are dead on. I am going to upgrade the grips to something like the older rubber grips with wooden inserts......

I like the GP-100, however I didn’t care for it in .44 Spl (one of my favorite cartridges). I bought one of the first ones when they were introduced, and never got used to what I felt was an exceptionally high bore axis.

The only GP100 that I’ve kept, is my Wiley Clapp 3”.

My “Security Six” series revolvers will likely never leave me, but as for the GP 100’s, the WC 3” is the only one that I’m interested in keeping.

I enjoy my S&Ws but my GP100 4 inch along with my sp101 stub are my working guns .I love that Ruger ruggedness and easy takedown put back together ability.

Not entirely sure? Someone much more knowledgeable than me on the Ruger Forum lists the production dates as 1989-1992.

I have to agree my 3” GP100 is one of my favorites. Here’s my 1989 GP100 next to me recently acquired 1973 Security Six.
